Amherst College’s Carter Hamill ’05 graduates as a combined 18-time All-America in cross country and indoor and outdoor track after winning her fifth collegiate national title with a time of 34:00.43 in the 10,000-meter run at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Before graduating with a degree in psychology and earning Second-Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America honors, she was a member of Psy Chi (the national honor society in psychology), a recipient of the Gordon B. Perry Memorial Award for scholarship and citizenship and served as an assistant publisher for Amherst College’s student-run newspaper, the Amherst Student. She was also awarded the Howard Hill Mossman Trophy, which is presented annually to the member of the Amherst College senior class who has brought, during his or her four years, the greatest honor in athletics to his or her alma mater.
