Olivia Zurek, Bates College

 

Olivia Zurek (Arlington, Mass.), a two-sport athletic and academic standout who graduated with a neuroscience major, knows something about pride through achievement. As a forward on the Bates women's basketball team, Zurek led the squad to a 25-3 mark and a number one national ranking. The leading rebounder (885) and second-leading scorer (1,440) in Bates history, Zurek was named NESCAC Player of the Year, ECAC New England Player of the Year and New England Women's Basketball Association Player of the Year.

A three-time NESCAC all-academic selection, Zurek earned national recognition as well. The senior was one of 10 finalists for the Josten’s Player of the Year award, one of 10 Kodak Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association All-Americans and was named a first team All-American by D3hoops.com.  In addition to her basketball success, Zurek was a force on the volleyball court as well, earning First-Team All-NESCAC honors. in 2004.
