Danny Sullivan, Bowdoin College

"I was quiet when I first came to Bowdoin," says
Danny Sullivan '05, an economics major from
Portsmouth, N.H. "But I'm more outspoken now. I've definitely grown
as a leader."
A superb sweeper on the nationally-ranked Bowdoin men's soccer
team, Danny made his presence known on the field right from the
start. By the time he graduated last May, he had gained national
recognition, twice winning first-team All-American honors and being
the only Division III player invited to Major League Soccer's
Scouting Combine.
Danny says that his coach's passion for soccer brought him to
Bowdoin and inspires the team "Coach Ainscough loves the game more
than anyone I've ever met. He'll do whatever it takes to make the
team the best we can be."
"Danny's kind of a gym rat, a great athlete who really understands
the game," says head coach Brian Ainscough. "Even as a first-year,
he was respected by the seniors. He demands a lot of himself
and everybody around him. That's what makes him great."
Danny's enthusiasm for soccer carried over into his other Bowdoin
endeavors. "Bowdoin has so much to offer, so may activities that
engulf everyone." In addition to meeting the challenges of the
soccer team and the classroom, he finds time to tutor area youth in
Math.
Bowdoin's 2005 Male Athlete of the Year, Danny has battled through
numerous injuries in his career and hopes to play professional
soccer in Europe.
