Ben Courchesne, Connecticut College

Ben Courchesne has been one of the steadiest and most consistent defenders to take the field for the Connecticut College lacrosse program. Serving as a captain of the 2005 squad, Courchesne played a key role in the Camels drive to the postseason, anchoring the defensive corps. Courchesne has excelled in the classroom where he has been a high honors Dean's List Student in every semester.
Courchesne has received numerous honors for his work as an English major. He was awarded the James Baird Prize for exemplary work in critical thinking. Courchesne also received the Sarah Ensign Cady Award for reading English aloud in a clear, meaningful way. The John Edwin Wells Prize was awarded to Courchesne for work in the field of English distinguished for clarity of thought and judgment.
In May of 2005, Courchesne received the Brown/Brooks Award. The award is presented to the outstanding male and female CC student-athletes who best represent the graduating class in scholarship, leadership and sportsmanship. A Marshall Scholar nominee and a Rhodes Scholar Finalist, Courchesne was also named to the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. Courchesne has twice been honored as a member of the NESCAC All-Academic team.
