Trinity Posts 5-3 Victory Over Wesleyan in Game 5 of Baseball Championship

AMHERST, Mass. – In Day 2 of the NESCAC Baseball Postseason Championship Tournament on Saturday, fifth-ranked Trinity College rebounded from a 6-0 loss to host Amherst with a 5-3 losers’ bracket win over Wesleyan University. Amherst and Trinity will meet for the conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament tomorrow (Sunday) at 10 a.m.
Trinity (30-6) broke a 3-3 tie with a pair of runs in the eighth on RBI singles by Matt Stafford and Rob O’Leary. Reliever Mike Regan was the beneficiary, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings en route to his first victory of the season. Jeff Natale doubled twice and went 3-for-4 in the win.
Jason Vitko paced Wesleyan with four singles. The Cardinals end their season at 12-24-1.
