2007 NESCAC Baseball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
Chris Kenney, Williams

(Senior, Catcher - Walpole, Mass.)
Kenney batted .455 (5-for-11) as the Ephs went 3-0 over the weekend to claim the 2007 NESCAC Baseball Championship, their first title since 2001. Kenney posted a .571 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage as he hit a double, a triple, and a home run. Kenney also scored two runs and drove in two runs.

Pitcher of the Week
Dan Benz, Williams

(Sophomore, LHP - Cicero, N.Y.)
Benz hurled a one-hit, complete-game shutout against Bowdoin on Friday as the Ephs picked up a 1-0 win over the Polar Bears in the opening game of the 2007 NESCAC Baseball Championship. The lefthander allowed an infield single to the first batter of the game, then issued only four walks while striking out seven during the remainder of the contest.

Player of the Week
Robin Allemand, Williams

(Freshman, Third Baseman - Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.)
Allemand posted a batting average of .692 (9-for-13) from the plate in a 2-1 week for the Ephs. Allemand went 5-for-5 in a 9-7, 10-inning victory at WNEC on Tuesday with four runs scored and two doubles. On Saturday, Allemand was 2-for-4 in the first game of a doubleheader split with MIT, garnering a triple and a stolen base.

Pitcher of the Week
Chandler Barnard, Trinity

(Junior, RHP - Lubbock, Texas)
Barnard pitched six shutout innings on Saturday during a 15-6 win over NESCAC rival Wesleyan, improving to 8-1 on the year in the process. Barnard allowed five hits while striking out six batters and giving up a single walk.

Player of the Week
Noah Walker, Middlebury

(Senior, Shortstop - Oakland, Calif.)
Walker extended his success at the plate last week, hitting .625 as the Panthers posted a 5-0 record. Walker reached base in .739 of his at-bats, hitting a pair of doubles and triples. He also scored eight runs while driving in six. Walker now leads the NESCAC in batting average at .449.

Pitcher of the Week
Ryan Platzbecker, Amherst

(Sophomore, LHP - Westlake, Ohio)
Platzbecker earned two of Amherst's three wins last week to improve to 4-0 on the season. Against Springfield, Platzbecker tossed seven innings, allowing one unearned run on five hits while striking out seven and walking one. He followed up the performance with a complete game effort against St. Michael's, allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts.

Player of the Week
Tom Salemy, Colby

(Senior, Second Baseman - Odessa, Fla.)
Salemy hit .565 (13-for-23) last week, scoring 10 runs while driving in 11 others in leading his team to a 4-1 week on the diamond. Salemy also hit two home runs and had three doubles among his 13 hits. He had three hits, two runs and three RBIs while batting leadoff in a 13-12 comeback win over Bates on Friday. He recorded at least two hits in all five games.

Pitcher of the Week
Tim Kiley, Trinity

(Junior, RHP - Swampscott, Mass.)
Kiely pitched the 13th perfect game in NCAA Division III history on Saturday, striking out nine while allowing just two balls to leave the infield in a 4-0 win over Tufts. It was also the first perfect game in Trinity history and the first no-hitter for the Bantams since 2002.

Player of the Week
Bryan McDavitt, Tufts

(Senior, First Baseman - Holden, Mass.)
McDavitt batted .538 (7-for-13) with four runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base during a 2-2 week for the Jumbos. McDavitt had a double, a triple and a home run for a 1.000 slugging percentage, while his six walks helped him post a .684 on-base percentage. He hit .556 (5-for-9) in the East Division series against Bowdoin over the weekend, in which Tufts took 2-out-of-3 wins.

Pitcher of the Week
Ryan Fote, Williams

(Senior, LHP - Wethersfield, Conn.)
Fote threw eight strong innings in a 7-3 Eph win over NESCAC rival Amherst on Saturday, allowing eight hits and three runs, only one of which was earned, while walking two and striking out six batters. Fote is now 3-0 this season with a 2.25 ERA.

Player of the Week
Sean Killeen, Trinity

(Sophomore, Catcher - Greenfield, Mass.)
Killeen went 6-for-17 (.353) in a 4-0 week for the Bantams, recording seven runs and nine RBIs. Killeen hit two doubles and a home run along with earning a walk for an on-base percentage of .421 and a slugging percentage of .647. He also had two steals. Against Bates on Friday, Killeen was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs. Saturday afternoon in a 13-9 win over the Bobcats, Killeen was 3-for-5 with a home run.

Pitcher of the Week
Robert Palladino, Middlebury

(Sophomore, RHP - Belmont, Mass.)
Palladino threw 10 innings for the Panthers over two games last week, allowing no earned runs. He began the week on Tuesday with four innings of one-hit ball in an 8-2 win over St. Michael's. Palladino then earned the win in the final game of a three-game series with Wesleyan on Saturday, tossing six shutout innings while allowing four hits. For the week, he struck out a total of five batters.

Player of the Week
Nick Lawler, Bowdoin

(Senior, 3B - Auburn, Maine)
Lawler hit .462 from the dish in leading the Polar Bears to two wins in three games against Trinity last week. The senior had four doubles and collected 10 total bases. Lawler also killed a Bantam rally during Saturday's first game, cutting down a runner at the plate with a defensive gem in an eventual 6-4 victory.

Pitcher of the Week
Adam Telian, Tufts

(Junior, LHP - Stoughton, Mass.)
Telian struck out 11 batters while allowing one unearned run in six innings of work on Friday against Bates in a 4-2 win. He struck out five straight Bobcat batters and six of seven overall in the second and third innings. Telian not only pitched himself out of a jam on multiple occasions during the game, he also picked off a runner that reached via a walk.

Neal Allar, Amherst

(Junior, C - Floyds Knobs, Ind.)
Currently in the midst of a six-game hitting streak, Allar posted a .483 batting average last week (14-for-29), posting an impressive .625 average (10-for-16) during the Lord Jeffs' four wins with 15 RBIs. Over seven games last week, Allar hit three home runs, two doubles, a triple and eight singles, scoring 11 runs while driving in 18. He was 4-for-4 against Fredonia St. with a double, a grand slam, and a pair of singles with seven RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week
Bryden Considine, Hamilton

(Junior, RHP - Cabot, Vt.)
Considine hurled two complete game victories against NESCAC East Division foes Bowdoin and Bates in Florida last week. He pitched 14 innings and allowed just two earned runs and 11 hits while striking out seven batters and giving up just two walks.
