Offensive Player of the Week

Eric McGrath, Trinity
(Senior, QB - Lynn, Mass.)
McGrath went 26-for-42 (.619) for 376 yards and a pair of touchdowns with no interceptions, finishing the Bantams’ 38-14 win at Wesleyan with a pass efficiency rating of 152.82. He also caught one touchdown pass in the victory. McGrath broke the single-season NESCAC and Trinity passing yards records with 2,206 in 2008.

   
Defensive Player of the Week

Damon Hall-Jones, Bowdoin
(Senior, DL - Milton, Mass.)
Hall-Jones helped the Polar Bears hold Colby to just 221 total yards in a 20-6 road win. He made a team-high nine tackles (seven solo), including three for a loss of 12 yards and a seven-yard sack.

   
Special Teams Player of the Week

Scott Sobolewski, Williams
(Junior, PK - Clifton Park, N.Y.)
Sobolewski tied a personal best with a 43-yard field goal in the Ephs 24-23 win at Amherst on Saturday afternoon. He was also perfect on his PAT attempts, going 3-for-3.

Offensive Player of the Week

Oliver Starnes, Trinity
(Junior, RB - Ledgewood, N.J.)
Starnes rushed 19 times for 116 yards (6.11 yards per carry) and scored three touchdowns in the Bantams’ 30-13 victory over Amherst on Saturday. His touchdown runs went for one, 12 and 69 yards, and he also caught three passes for 26 yards. The win secured Trinity its fifth NESCAC title in the last seven years.

   
Defensive Player of the Week

Tyler Berry, Trinity
(Senior, LB - East Lyme, Conn.)
Berry tied the mark for most tackles in Saturday’s game against Amherst with nine (four solo) while recording a tackle for a loss of six yards, a half sack, a pass break-up, and two interceptions. One of Berry’s two interceptions came on the Bantams’ goal line to stop an Amherst scoring drive.

   
Special Teams Player of the Week

Nolan McNair, Bowdoin
(Senior, K/P - Oak Park, Calif.)
McNair was perfect for the Polar Bears in their 55-14 win over Bates on Saturday. McNair went 7-for-7 on PAT attempts and was 2-for-2 in field goals, hitting from 20 and 32 yards out in the win. He also placed both of his punts on the afternoon inside the Bates 20 yard line.

Offensive Co-Players of the Week

Oliver Kell, Bowdoin
(Junior, QB - Westford, Mass.)
Kell powered the Polar Bear offense during their 17-10 win at Wesleyan. Kell completed 24-of-31 passes for 229 yards and one touchdown while gaining 113 yards on 30 carries and running for the game-winning score with 1:31 left to play. He posted a pass efficiency rating of 150.12.

   
Offensive Co-Players of the Week

Brian Morrissey, Williams
(Senior, RB - Winchester, Mass.)
The conference’s leading rusher, Morrissey carried the ball a school-record 42 times for 201 yards, an average of 4.8 yards per carry, and scored the game-winning touchdown from six yards out with 2:12 remaining in the Ephs’ 14-7 win over Hamilton.

   
Defensive Player of the Week

Kyle McAllister, Bates
(Junior, FS - Exeter, N.H.)
McAllister had a big day for the Bobcats in their first win of the season, a 31-21 victory against Colby. McAllister collected seven tackles (six solo), an interception, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. McAllister picked up one of his two caused fumbles and returned the ball 41 yards for a touchdown.

   
Special Teams Player of the Week

Sam Viering, Trinity
(Sophomore, KR - Ponte Verde Beach, Fla.)
Viering scored the game-winning touchdown on an 85-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter in a 34-31 win over Middlebury. Viering finished the game with 142 total return yards on five kickoffs.

Offensive Player of the Week

Will Forde, Tufts
(Senior, RB - Hyde Park, Mass.)
Forde had his fifth consecutive game with more than 100 yards rushing, gaining 130 yards on 23 carries (5.65 yards per carry) and a touchdown in the Jumbos’ 17-7 win over the Ephs, the first for Tufts over Williams since 1986. Forde also caught five passes for 36 yards for a total of 166 yards in the contest.

   
Defensive Player of the Week

Tom Daley, Colby
(Senior, DB - North Bridgton, Maine)
Daley intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble and recorded six tackles in the Mules’ 16-13 victory against Hamilton. Daley’s interception with 7:36 left in the game halted Hamilton’s drive on the Colby 18, while his fumble recovery came on the final play of the game at the Colby 20.

   
Special Teams Player of the Week

Matt Eberhart, Amherst
(Junior, PK/P - Plano, Texas)
Eberhart punted eight times for an average of 41.5 yards with a long of 53 yards. He also hit a 22-yard field goal, his lone attempt of the game, with nine seconds remaining in the first half to tie Saturday’s game at Wesleyan at 10-all. Eberhart hit both PAT attempts and handled two kickoffs.

Co-Offensive Players of the Week

Mark Snickenberger, Hamilton
(Sophomore, RB - Wellesley, Mass.)
Snickenberger tied a program record with four short yardage rushing touchdowns as the Continentals posted a 28-17 win over Bowdoin on Saturday. He finished the game with 99 yards on 21 carries, a 4.7 yard average per carry.

   
Co-Offensive Players of the Week

Eric McGrath, Trinity

McGrath set new school records for completions, passing yards, and total offense as he was 34-for-57 for 470 yards and four touchdowns in the Bantams 28-27 overtime win over Tufts. With time winding down in the fourth quarter, McGrath orchestrated the game-tying drive starting from the Trinity eight-yard line, a drive that included two passes on fourth down for a first down.
   
Defensive Player of the Week

Eric Pender, Amherst
(Junior, DL - Drexel Hill, Pa.)
Pender led the Lord Jeffs’ defense in a 23-2 win on Saturday. He tied for the team lead in the game with a season-high 10 tackles (three solo), including three sacks for a combined loss of 30 yards. Colby entered the game ranked second in the conference in rushing, averaging 174.3 yards, however the Amherst defense held the Mules to just 51 yards on the ground.

   
Special Teams Player of the Week

Chris Helsel, Wesleyan
(Senior, PK/P - Ridgewood, N.J.)
Handling all of the Cardinals’ kicking duties in a 35-8 win at Bates, Helsel went 5-for-5 on PAT attempts, lofted three punts for a 46.7-yard average, two of which pinned Bates inside its own 10-yard line, and sent six kickoffs to an average starting point of the Bates 12-yard line.

Offensive Player of the Week

Connor Wells, Trinity
(Senior, WR - Haddam, Conn.)
Wells caught seven passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns - including the game-winning reception with 23 seconds remaining - in the Bantams’ 20-15 win at Hamilton on Saturday. All of Wells’ catches came in the final 17 minutes of the game, with his touchdown receptions totaling 39 and 40 yards.

   
Defensive Player of the Week

Tom Daley, Colby
(Senior, DB/KR - North Bridgton, Maine)
Daley had two key fumble recoveries, broke up two passes and added five tackles (four solo) in the Mules’ 13-7 win over Wesleyan on Saturday. With Wesleyan up 7-3 in the third quarter, Daley recovered a fumble in the Colby endzone for a touchback. He also recovered a fumble on a muffed punt return.

   
Special Teams Player of the Week

Matt Rayner, Middlebury
(Freshman, WR - Andover, Mass.)
Rayner scooped up a blocked punt and scrambled 18 yards for a touchdown that put the Panthers up 14-7 over Amherst on Saturday afternoon. Middlebury went on to win 31-14.

Offensive Player of the Week

Oliver Starnes, Trinity

Starnes rushed 24 times for 111 yards (4.63 per carry), including touchdown runs of one yard and 30 yards in the Bantams’ 20-17 victory at Williams on Saturday afternoon. Starnes’ 30-yard touchdown run on a direct snap put Trinity in command of the game in the third quarter.

   
Defensive Player of the Week

Conor Quinn, Trinity
(Senior, S - Milford, Mass.)
Quinn had two interceptions for 19 yards and two solo tackles in the Bantams’ 20-17 win at Williams, which snapped the Ephs seven-game winning streak. On Williams’ first play from scrimmage, Quinn recorded his first pick before adding a second interception in the third quarter, which set up the game-winning drive two plays later.

   
Special Teams Player of the Week

Victor Gagne, Colby
(Senior, P/K - Norridgewock, Maine)
Gagne booted a personal-best 42-yard field goal and averaged 34.6 yards per punt over seven punts in the Mules’ 24-19 win against Middlebury. He went 3-for-3 in PAT attempts and 1-for-1 in field goal attempts.

Offensive Player of the Week

Donald McKillop, Middlebury
(Sophomore, QB - Poway, Calif.)
McKillop completed 27-of-31 passes (.871) for 344 yards, both career highs, in the Panthers’ 42-28 win over Bowdoin on Saturday. The 2007 NESCAC Rookie of the Year also ran for 34 yards and tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass as he posted a 178.05 efficiency rating.

   
Defensive Player of the Week

Kyle McAllister, Bates
(Junior, S - Exeter, N.H.)
McAllister recorded a game-high 13 tackles (six solo), including one for a loss, in the Bobcats’ 17-7 setback at Trinity on Saturday. McAllister, who led the conference in interceptions last season, also picked off a pass and returned it 25 yards, and recovered a Trinity fumble.

   
Special Teams Player of the Week

Victor Gagne, Colby
(Senior, P/K - Skowhegan, Maine)
Gagne averaged 42.6 yards per punt over eight punts during the Mules setback at Williams on Saturday. During a scoreless first half between the two teams, Gagne kept Colby in the game with five punts with a 43.6-yard advantage. He had two punts land inside the 20-yard line and a long of 55 yards.
