HADLEY, Mass. - The Trinity football team has earned its fifth NESCAC title in the last seven years, completing the 2008 season with a perfect 8-0 record. The Bantams closed out the season on Saturday with a 38-14 win over rival Wesleyan. Williams was the runner-up to Trinity.
The Bantams wrapped up their 2008 crown with a week remaining in the regular season thanks to a 30-13 win over Amherst on Nov. 1. Trinity led 14-13 heading into the fourth quarter before posting 16 unanswered points against the Lord Jeffs. The win over the Cardinals on Nov. 8 gave the Bantams their 11th undefeated season and pushed their unbeaten streak to 10 games.
Rivals Amherst and Williams met on Saturday in Amherst, Mass. with more than just second place at stake. Tied at 10 apiece at halftime, a blocked extra point attempt proved to be the difference in the game as the Ephs edged the Jeffs 24-23. Williams finishes its season at 6-2, while Amherst moved to 5-3.
