2005 Field Hockey Players of the Week
November 7, 2005
Margaret Gormley, Bowdoin
(Senior, Defense - Chestnut Hill, Mass.)
Senior co-captain Gormley led the Polar Bears to their second
NESCAC Field Hockey title over the weekend, pacing a Bowdoin
defense that allowed no goals throughout the 2005 NESCAC Field
Hockey Championship. Gormley, who also serves at the point for the
Polar Bears on penalty corners, has proved to be one of the top
two-way players in the league this season, scoring six goals while
leading the defensive corps to a 0.47 goals against average this
year.

Cathleen Clark, Williams
(Junior, Forward - Plymouth, N.H.)
Clark tallied four goals last week, three of which came in a
come-from-behind victory over Connecticut College on Sunday in the
first round of the NESCAC Tournament. Clark helped her squad
recover from a 2-1 deficit, scoring the game-winning goal as part
of her hat trick. Her other goal of the week proved to be the
game-winner in a 3-0 decision over Skidmore on Tuesday.

Adrienne Shea, Wesleyan
(Sophomore, Forward - Andover, Mass.)
Shea had an impressive week on the field for Wesleyan, scoring two
goals in each contest as the Cardinals went 2-0 for the week. On
Wednesday, Shea helped her squad overcome two deficits by tying the
game at 1-1 and 2-2 with her tallies against Mount Holyoke before
an eventual 3-2 Wesleyan victory. Saturday, Shea had the opening
goal of the game and added another marker in the first half as the
Cardinals cruised to a 6-0 victory over NESCAC rival Amherst.

Channing Weymouth, Middlebury
(Senior, Midfielder - Plymouth, N.H.)
Weymouth was a driving force for the Panthers in a 2-0 week over
nationally-ranked teams. Against Williams on Saturday, Weymouth
scored the game's first goal and added an assist on the game-winner
during the 3-2 overtime win over the Ephs. On Sunday, Weymouth
scored the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over #1 Ursinus.
October 10, 2005
Katie Williams, Connecticut College
(Junior, Forward - Selinsgrove, Pa.)
Williams tallied three goals in a 2-0 week for the Camels. She
scored both goals in Connecticut College's 2-1 overtime win at
NESCAC foe Trinity on Saturday, netting her team-leading eighth
goal of the season in dramatic fashion in the extra session.
Tuesday afternoon, Williams scored a second half goal in a 2-1
victory over Gordon College, the top team in the Commonwealth Coast
Conference.
October 3, 2005
Molly Adams, Wesleyan
(Junior, Forward - Wilbraham, Mass.)
Adams netted a pair of goals at Wheaton, including the game-winner
with 9:24 remaining to break a 2-2 tie. She also spotted the
Cardinals a 1-0 lead at Connecticut College en route to a 3-2
victory in NESCAC action.
September 26, 2005
Kate Leonard, Bowdoin
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Eliot, Maine)
Leonard posted 10 saves in regulation and overtime, and then turned
aside several penalty stroke chances as the Polar Bears defeated
Williams 2-1 in three rounds of penalty strokes on Saturday to
remain unbeaten on the season. Leonard leads the NESCAC with a 0.61
goals against average so far this season.
September 19, 2005
Meighan McGowan, Williams
(Freshman, Forward - Greenwich, Conn.)
McGowan scored four goals and assisted on three others during a 3-0
week for the Ephs, in which they outscored their opponents 19-3 and
kept their record spotless at 4-0. Against Connecticut College on
Saturday, McGowan netted a goal and added an assist in a 6-1
victory. She completed the weekend against Clark with two goals in
a carbon-copy 6-1 win.
September 12, 2005
Ashley Lyddane, Middlebury
(Senior, Forward - Greenwich, Conn.)
Lyddane tallied three goals in a 2-0 weekend for the Panthers. On
Saturday, Lyddane collected two goals in a 4-1 win over NESCAC foe
Connecticut College. She followed the feat on Sunday with the
game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Springfield, adding in three
defensive saves in the contest.
