HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity senior Christine Mwaturura (Helensvale, Zimbabwe) has been awarded a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship as part of the Fall 2008 recipients. An All-American, Mwaturura earned All-NESCAC First Team and Fall All-Academic honors in 2008. She is the only NESCAC student-athlete from the fall to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and one of two Division III field hockey players.

To qualify for an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or its equivalent, and must have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete was nominated. The student-athlete must have behaved, both on and off the field, in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution and intercollegiate athletics. The student-athlete also must intend to continue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.

A defender for the Bantam field hockey team, Mwaturura contributed three goals, two serving as game-winners, along with three assists for nine points while recording two defensive saves in 2008. Majoring in economics and Asian studies, Mwaturura will receive her degree from Trinity in May.
