WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Trinity junior George Boudria (Mendham, N.J.) fired a two-day total of 147 to finish as the tournament medalist, however a gritty all-around performance from the Williams Men’s Golf squad gave the Ephs their second-straight NESCAC Golf Championship, which was held at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass.

Spurred by a 2-under par performance on Sunday (69), Boudria became the first Bantam linksman to medal at the NESCAC championship, and helped guide his team to a third-place finish, the highest Trinity has ever finished at the Tournament. By finishing first at the event, Boudria earned NESCAC Player of the Year honors.

The 2005 edition of the NESCAC Golf Championship appeared to be a repeat of the 2004 Championship after the first day, as perennial contender Hamilton trailed the host Ephs by one Saturday evening, 307-308. Williams senior Matt Slovitt (Chicago, Ill.) paced his team on day two of the event, posting a par score of 71, second only to Boudria on Sunday. Slovitt finished the tournament with a two-day score of 151, which combined with junior Kevin Kellert’s (Toms River, N.J.) score of 150 helped the Ephs (611) to their fifth NESCAC Golf Championship in the past six years. Hamilton finished behind Williams for the second-straight year (618), followed by Trinity (620), Middlebury in fourth (622), and Tufts in fifth place (635).

Middlebury freshman Harrison Bane (Marblehead, Mass.) finished second in the field with a two-day score of 149, earning him NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors. Kellert finished tied for third with Tufts’ Justin Meier (Tampa, Fla.), while Slovitt placed in a three-way tie for fifth with Amherst’s Sean Jules (Chicago, Ill.) and Hamilton’s Dave Christie (New Canaan, Conn.).

Nestled in the Berkshire region of Western Massachusetts, the Taconic Golf Course was constructed in 1896 and is rated as one of the top collegiate courses in the country. The par-71, 6,230-yard course has hosted the NESCAC Golf Championship every other year since 1999, alternating with the Ralph Myhre Golf Course on the campus of Middlebury College. The Taconic Golf Course served as the site for the 1999 NCAA Division III Golf Championship.
