Williams Wins 2008 Golf Championship

KENSINGTON, Conn. - First-year Drew Murray (Sleepy Hollow,
N.Y.) and Jack Killea (Ridgefield, Conn.) each carded a score of
145 to lead Williams College to victory in the the 2008 NESCAC Golf
Championship on Sunday afternoon at the Shuttle Meadow Country Club
in Kensington, Conn. The Ephs had a two-day score of 590, 13
strokes ahead of second place Hamilton. The Continentals finished
tied with the Panthers of Middlebury with a score of 603, however
Hamilton had the tie-breaker advantage.
Continental sophomore Phil Preiss (Lake Forest, Ill.) shot a 78 in today’s round, edging Panther junior Michael McCormick (Oak Park, Ill.), who scored a 79, to take the tie-breaker in the five spot. Middlebury senior George Baumann (Mequon, Wis.), who posted a score of 69 in the first 18 holes, finished the championship with the top score of 144 (+2).
Trinity first-year James Driscoll (Milton, Mass.) fired a day two low of 70 to finish the tournament with a score of 149, good for a fifth-place tie of the individual leaders. Junior Josh Biren (Sudbury, Mass.) scored a 156 in the tournament, good for second on the Bantams.
