AMHERST, Mass. - Trinity College carded a
two-round score of 592 (304, 288) to capture the 2012 NESCAC Men's
Golf Championship Qualifier this weekend at Hickory Ridge Golf
Club (par 72 - 6,704 yards).
With their win, the Bantams earned the right to host the spring
championship from April 27-28. They will be joined by Williams
College (607 - 307, 300), Hamilton College (611 - 306, 305) and
Middlebury College (613 - 314, 299).
All five of Trinity's participants placed in the top 10 overall.
The Bantams were paced by Greg Palmer, who earned
medalist honors with a final tally of 147. After carding a 76
during the opening round yesterday, he fired a tournament-best 71
(-1) to close things out today.
Palmer narrowly edged out teammates William
Burchill (148 - 76, 72) and Nick
Buenaventura (148 - 76,72), who tied for second place. The
trio were joined in the top ten by fellow Bantams Jack
Palley (152 - 79, 73) and Don Hunt (152 -
76, 76), who finished in a deadlock for seventh place.
Williams took home second place in the team competition thanks to
outstanding performances from Ross Bowen (152 -
74, 78) and Matt McCarron (152 - 77,75).
Rounding out the field were host Amherst College (628), Bowdoin
College (640), Colby College (645), Tufts University (650), Bates
College (660) and Wesleyan University (690).
