AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College men’s basketball team earned a 92-67 win over Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon at LeFrak Gymnasium in the Championship Game of the 2009 Ken Wright ’52 Memorial Invitational. The victory gave longtime head coach David Hixon his 600th career win.

A 1975 graduate of Amherst, Hixon has spent his entire career at the college, having worked as an assistant for three years before assuming the head coaching position. In his 33rd season as head coach, Hixon is just the ninth Division III coach to reach the 600-win plateau, and has the seventh most victories by an active Division III coach. Hixon will go for number 601 on December 1 when the Lord Jeffs travel to face Westfield State.
