KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today the 2010 State Farm Coaches’ Division III All-America teams. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. Williams senior Blake Schultz, the 2010 NESCAC Player of the Year, was chosen among the eight members of the All-America First Team, while Colby senior Adam Choice earned Third Team honors.
In addition to being recognized as NESCAC Player of the Year, Schultz previously was named All-NESCAC First Team, ECAC-New England First Team, ECAC-New England Player of the Year, D3Hoops.com First Team All-Northeast and the D3Hoops Northeast Player of the Year.
Schultz is the first Eph All-American selection since the 2004 season when Ben Coffin ’04 and Michael Crotty '04 were both honored. The senior co-captain has started all 30 games this season for the Ephs and is the team’s top scorer with 19.0 points per game. Williams will take on Guilford on Friday at 5:00 p.m. in the national semifinals in Salem, Va.
Earlier in the week, Choice was
selected as the Maine State Division III Player of the Year for the
third time in a row and was on the NESCAC First Team All-Conference
squad for the second-straight winter.
Choice finished his career ranked eighth all-time in scoring for
Colby with 1,534 points. He also had 654 rebounds, 185 assists, 134
steals, and 95 blocked shots during his four years.
In the latest NESCAC statistics, Choice ranks tied for second in
scoring (18.3), eighth in assists (3.4), ninth in blocked shots
(1.04), tied for ninth in steals (1.16), and 10th in rebounding
(6.7). He is the only NESCAC men's basketball player since the
2002-03 season to finish the regular season in the top 10 in
scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and blocked shots.
Schultz and Choice have both been selected to participate in the NABC Senior All-Star game on Saturday, March 20.
