Aaron
Toomey, Amherst (Sophomore, Guard - Greensboro, N.C.) Toomey led the Lord Jeffs to the NESCAC Men’s Basketball Championship over the weekend - Amherst’s first title since 2006 and fifth overall. He averaged 22.0 points on 13-of-19 shooting (.684), hitting 7-of-10 from long range and 11-of-12 at the line. During Saturday’s semifinals, Toomey had a career-high 26 points as he made 7-of-9 attempts and 5-of-7 from three-point land in a 97-74 victory over Bates. He followed on Sunday with 18 points in a 71-69 win against Middlebury. Toomey also averaged 5.5 assists per game over the two outings, including the dish on the championship-winning bucket with 3.2 seconds left against the Panthers. |

Squires, Bates (Senior, Forward - Swampscott, Mass.) Squires helped the Bobcats reach the semifinals of the NESCAC Men’s Basketball Championship, as he tied a career high with 25 points on 12-of-21 shooting (.571) and grabbed 13 rebounds, seven on the defensive glass, in Saturday’s 57-54 victory at Tufts. Bates out-rebounded Tufts 39-28 in the game. During the Bobcats’ 2-0 week, Squires averaged 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in 32.0 minutes played per game. |

Callaghan, Wesleyan (Junior, Center - Madison, Conn.) Callaghan averaged 20.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game during a 2-0 road weekend in NESCAC play to close out the conference schedule. He made 15-of-33 attempts from the floor (.455) and 9-of-11 free throw attempts (.818). On Friday at Bowdoin, Callaghan posted career-highs in both points and rebounds, scoring 25 and grabbing 15 boards in a 74-61 win. Saturday afternoon at Colby, Callaghan netted 15 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and dished the ball four times in a 76-70 decision that gave Wesleyan a program record for wins with its 19th of the year. |

Kizel, Middlebury (Sophomore, Guard - Short Hills, N.J.) Kizel averaged 20.3 points per game on 18-of-28 shooting (.643) during a 2-1 week for the Panthers. He made 8-of-12 three-point attempts and hit 17-of-18 shots at the foul line (.944). Kizel opened the week with a career-high 24 points, going 7-for-11 from the field and 4-of-4 from long range, in a 77-76 setback at Keene St. on Tuesday. He followed with a new career high on Friday, scoring 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting (.615) in a 79-76 victory over Bowdoin. Kizel closed the week with 11 points in Saturday’s 72-53 victory against Colby in limited minutes. He added in 10 rebounds and eight assists over the three outings. |

Sharry, Middlebury (Senior, Forward - Braintree, Mass.) Sharry averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game in a 2-0 week for unbeaten Middlebury. He made 17-of-24 shots from the floor (.708) and hit 4-of-5 from the foul line over the week. After scoring 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in Tuesday’s 73-54 win over Plattsburgh St., Sharry had 19 points, including two of the Panthers’ final three, in a one-point victory against Williams on Saturday, 80-79. |

Matarazzo, Bates (Sophomore, Guard - Shelton, Conn.) Matarazzo helped the Bobcats extend their win streak against NESCAC foes to four by averaging 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists over two games. He made 14-of-24 from the floor (.583) and sank 13-of-14 free throw attempts (.929). Friday evening in an 84-80 overtime win at Connecticut College, Matarazzo had a career-high 27 points, as he converted four of Bates’ final six free throws in OT. He followed Saturday by matching his previous career-high mark of 17 in a 77-60 decision over Wesleyan. |

Ferris, Tufts (Freshman, Guard - Essex Junction, Vt.) Ferris was a leader off the bench for the Jumbos in two NESCAC victories this past weekend. Averaging 22 minutes per game, Ferris posted 15.5 points and 5.0 rebounds while going 10-for-14 from the floor (.714), 6-for-9 from three-point range (.667), and 5-for-7 from the foul line (.714). He also chipped in five assists and four steals while committing only two fouls. In Friday’s 82-70 win over Bowdoin, Ferris hit all six of his shots, including four from long range, as he finished with 17 points. |

Toomey averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.5 steals while shooting .529 percent (9-for-17) overall and .889 from the line (24-for-27) in a 2-0 week for the Lord Jeffs. In Friday’s 66-64 win over Wesleyan, Toomey scored 10 of the Jeffs’ final 14 points in a 22-point effort, finishing 15-for-18 from the line. He matched a career high with 23 points in Saturday’s 74-62 victory over Connecticut College. |

Sharry, Middlebury (Senior, Forward - Braintree, Mass.) Sharry averaged 29.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game in a 3-0 week for the unbeaten Panthers. He made 35-of-45 from the floor (.778) and 14-of-17 from the line (.824). During Tuesday’s 123-111 victory at Rensselaer, Sharry poured in a career-high 41 points on 19-of-23 shooting to go along with nine boards. He had a double-double (24-10) in Friday’s 79-57 win against Bates. |

Vadas, Connecticut College (Sophomore, Guard - Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) Vadas led the Camels in scoring during the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla. last week, averaging 23.5 points on 17-of-35 shooting (.486) to go along with 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. During Wednesday’s 59-53 setback to Bridgewater St., Vadas had a game- and season-high 26 points, hitting 9-of-17 from the floor (.529) and 4-of-9 from three-point range (.444). In Friday’s 69-63 victory over Mt. Aloysius, Vadas poured in a game-high 21 points and tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven boards. |

Sharry, Middlebury (Senior, Forward - Braintree, Mass.) After missing the first five games of the season, Sharry returned to the lineup last week and helped the Panthers finish the fall semester unbeaten with a pair of victories, averaging 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting .682 from the field (15-for-22). During Tuesday’s 90-46 victory over Johnson & Wales, Sharry came off the bench and scored 16 points over 17 minutes of action. He followed with a double-double in Friday’s 64-59 win at Skidmore, pouring in 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to go along with four steals and four blocks. |

Brown, Wesleyan (Junior, Guard - Harlem, N.Y.) Brown averaged 23.3 points, 6.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game during a 3-0 week for the Cardinals, who are off to a 6-1 start for the first time in 10 years. He made 25-of-44 from the floor (.568) and 19-of-27 from the line (.704) while posting a 2.9 assist-to-turnover ratio. During Tuesday’s 88-76 win over Framingham St., Brown scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half to lead Wesleyan back from a 10-point second half deficit. He also reached 1,000 career points in the win. At Emmanuel on Thursday, Brown had Wesleyan’s final six points (28 total) to break a 61-all tie with 1:05 to play in a 67-63 victory. |

Sullivan, Hamilton (Senior, Forward - Madison, N.J.) Sullivan averaged 17.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during a 3-0 week for the Continentals and earned Most Outstanding Player honors at Hamilton’s Thanksgiving Tournament. He made 19-of-34 shots from the floor (.559) and 13-of-16 from the foul line (.813). During Sunday’s 79-68 win over Farmingdale St., Sullivan scored a season-high 21 points, hitting 7-of-11 shots and 7-of-8 from the foul line. He also recorded five steals over the three outings last week. |

Hanley, Bowdoin (Senior, Forward - New Canaan, Conn.) Hanley averaged a double-double, scoring 21.5 points and grabbing 12.0 rebounds per game, to lead the Polar Bears to the UMass Dartmouth Classic title this past weekend. Earning Tournament MVP honors, Hanley scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds, all on the defensive glass, in a 66-61 win over the Corsairs. He shot .692 from the floor (18-for-26) over the weekend. |

Brown, Welseyan (Junior, Guard - Harlem, N.Y.) Brown took home MVP honors at the Inn at Middletown Tip-Off Tournament as he averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 assists per game. He made 16-of-26 from the floor (.615) and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the foul line. During an 80-59 victory over Curry in the championship, Brown scored 22 points, going 9-of-14 from the field and 4-for-4 from the line, while dishing out eight assists and committing only one turnover. |
