2000-01 Men's Ice Hockey Players of the Week

March 5, 2001
John Dawson, Middlebury
(Freshman, Forward - New Canaan, Conn.)
Dawson scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Middlebury to a 4-3 win over Amherst in the NESCAC Championship game. The win gave the Panthers their second consecutive NESCAC title and automatically qualified them for the NCAA Division III tournament.

Mike Kaufman, Hamilton
(Senior, Goaltender - Thousand Oaks, Calif.)
Kaufman made 38 saves to record the shutout and lead sixth-seeded Hamilton past second-seeded Colby, 4-0.

Colin Robinson, Bowdoin
(Senior, Goaltender - Mason, N.H.)
Robinson picked up both wins to help the Polar Bears earn the fifth seed in the NESCAC tournament, becoming the school's all-time leader in goalie wins with 49, surpassing the mark set by 1989 graduate Steve Janas. He made 25 saves in a 4-2 win over Babson and earned the win in a 10-1 drubbing of UMass-Boston.

Nick Rieser, Amherst
(Senior, Goaltender - Northfield, Ill.)
Rieser recorded 60 saves in two key NESCAC wins for Amherst. He made 23 saves in a 6-1 win over Bowdoin and 37 saves in a 3-2 victory over Colby as the Jeffs moved into a share of second place. He did not play in a non-league loss at Middlebury.

Bobby Moss, Williams
(Senior, Forward - North Reading, Mass.)
Moss scored seven goals and assisted on two others in three games for Williams. He scored two goals against Oswego, and scored the game-winner and assisted on another goal in a 3-2 win over St. Anslem. Moss finished the week with three goals and one assist against New England College.

Bob Miele, Amherst
(Junior, Forward - Wobrun, Mass)
Miele recorded a pair of hat tricks in two Amherst wins over the weekend. He scored three power play goals and added an assist in a 9-0 win over Hamilton. He also tallied three power play goals in an 8-2 victory over Skidmore.

Mike Carosi, Bowdoin
(Junior, Forward - Warwick, R.I.)
Carosi scored four goals and assisted on one other as Bowdoin won two games against NESCAC opponents. He scored three consecutive goals, including one short-handed, in an 11-3 win over Connecticut College. He scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in an 8-4 victory over Wesleyan.

Geoffrey Faulkner, Trinity

(Junior, Goaltender - Westerville, Ohio)
Faulkner totaled 112 saves in four games to lead Trinity to three victories, including back-to-back wins over Norwich and Middlebury. He allowed just 11 goals in 360 minutes for a 1.83 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.

Steve Cucinatti, Wesleyan
(Senior, Forward - Winchester, Mass.)
Cucinatti extended his goal-scoring string to four games (eight goals in that stretch) and became the 16th player in school history to surpass 100 career points. He was in on all five goals, scoring two and assisting on three, in a 5-2 win over Framingham State. He also scored two goals and assisted on two others in a win over Assumption.

Geoffrey Faulkner, Trinity
(Junior, Goaltender - Westerville, Ohio)
Faulkner made 72 saves and yielded just three goals in two Trinity wins. He made 35 saves and recorded a shutout at St. Anslem. He made 37 saves in a 5-3 win at New England College.

Steve Cucinatti, Wesleyan
(Senior, Forward - Winchester, Mass.)
Cucinatti scored three goals and assisted on three others in an 8-6 win over UMass-Boston. He scored one goal in a loss to Babson and finished the weekend with 97 career points. He is three points shy of becoming the 16th men's player in Wesleyan to record 100 career points.

Darren Reaume, Amherst
(Junior, Forward - West Seneca, N.Y.)
Reaume was named the Most Valuable Player of the Ben McCabe Tournament as Amherst posted wins over Trinity and Connecticut College. He scored one goal and added two assists in a 6-2 victory over Trinity.

Scott Goldman, Middlebury
(Senior, Forward - Doylestown, Pa.)
Goldman scored three goals and added five assists in two Middlebury wins. He scored three goals and assisted on two others in an 8-0 win over New England College, and recorded three assists in an 8-0 victory over St. Anslem.
