March 8, 2004
John Dawson, Middlebury
(Senior, Forward - New Canaan, Conn.)
Dawson scored two goals in Middlebury's NESCAC Championship win
over Trinity. The NESCAC title was the fourth for Middlebury in the
five years the tournament has existed. The senior captain has 14
goals and 12 assists for 26 points on the season, as he leads the
team to its 10th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance this
weekend.

Elliot Altberg, Hamilton
(Junior, Forward - Thornhill, Ontario)
Altberg figured in all four of Hamilton's goals Saturday as
Hamilton upset nationally ranked Bowdoin 4-0 in conference
quarterfinal action. He recorded a hat trick and assisted on the
other goal as the sixth-seeded Continentals won at third-seeded
Bowdoin for the second time in nine days. Hamilton is in the
conference semifinals for the third time in four years.

Kevin Cooper, Middlebury
(Senior, Forward - Mississauga, Ontario)
Cooper scored a hat-trick, including a goal six seconds into the
game, as third-ranked Middlebury defeated top-ranked Norwich 6-2 in
front of a sold out crowd of 2,600 at the Kenyon Arena. Cooper also
assisted on a goal in the game, while netting his third 7:25 into
the third period to seal the win. The senior now leads the NESCAC
with 42 points on the season.

Cameron Finch, Trinity
(Sophomore, Forward - Acton, Mass.)
Trinity sophomore forward Cameron Finch totaled three points in an
8-6 win over Williams with two goals and an assist, and netted the
game-winning goal in the third period of a 2-1 win against
top-ranked Middlebury.
February 9, 2004
Adam Dann, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, Forward - Burlington, Vt.)
Dann scored five goals in two wins last week for the Polar Bears,
who knocked off the top-ranked team in Division III - Norwich on
Saturday. Dann started the weekend with a hat trick in a victory
over St. Michael's before posting two goals against the Cadets. The
sophomore scored the game-winner in the second period as well as an
insurance goal in the third to make it a 5-3 victory and snap
Norwich's 16-game winning streak.

Kevin Cooper, Middlebury
(Senior, Forward - Mississauga, Ontario)
Cooper scored five goals and dished out four assists last week,
becoming Middlebury's all-time leading modern-day goal scorer with
82. The senior scored two goals and dished out two assists in an
8-1 thumping of #4 Plattsburgh St., while recording a hat-trick
with two assists in a 9-2 win at Mass.-Boston.

Marc Scheuer, Middlebury
(Senior, Goaltender - Pt. Claire, Quebec)
Scheuer was in goal for all three Middlebury league road wins last
week as the Panthers improved to 12-2. Scheuer made 59 saves and
allowed just four goals in wins at 13th-ranked Williams, St. Anselm
and 10th-ranked New England College. Scheuer had a 1.33 goals
against average for the week, while earning a shutout at Williams.

Gus Katsuras, Hamilton
(Sophomore, Forward - Toronto, Ontario)
Katsuras scored five goals and assisted on another in a 3-0-0 week
for Hamilton. He kicked off the week by recording a hat trick in a
7-1 win against nationally ranked Amherst. Two of the three goals
were unassisted. The sophomore then notched a goal and an assist in
a 3-1 win against Salem State College. Katsuras was one of six
Hamilton players to score a goal in a 7-1 win against Southern
Maine. His goal gave the Continentals a 1-0 lead early in the first
period.

Jim Panczykowski, Wesleyan
(Senior, Goaltender - Cattaragus, N.Y.)
Over a 1-0-2 week, Panczykowski recorded 119 saves while allowing
just seven goals while playing all 190 minutes posting a .944 save
percentage and a 2.22 goals-against average. All three Wesleyan
road opponents had winning records including 13th ranked Amherst.
Panczykowski had 38 saves and allowed just one goal to the Lord
Jeffs in a 3-1 victory while posting 46 saves in a 4-4 tie with
Hamilton and 35 stops in a 2-2 overtime tie at Wentworth.

Will Bennett, Wesleyan
(Freshman, Forward - Dedham, Mass.)
A seven-point weekend from Wesleyan freshman Will Bennett led the
Cardinals to two conference victories over Mass.-Boston, 5-2, and
Babson, 7-4. Bennett scored three goals in the second period
against Babson, including the game-winner with 1:05 left in the
period to break a 4-4 tie and complete his hat trick. The freshman
added an assist on the insurance goal with 10 minutes to go.
Bennett logged three assists in the defeat of Mass.-Boston.
December 1, 2003
Beau Kretzman, Amherst
(Junior, Forward - Edina, Minn.)
Co-captain Beau Kretzman earned Tournament MVP honors, leading
undefeated Amherst to a pair of wins over Cortland and Trinity at
the Ben McCabe Invitational. Kretzman had two goals and an assist
in Saturday's 6-5 come-from-behind win over Cortland and assisted
on the overtime game-winner in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Trinity.
Kretzman also added 2 goals, including the game winner, in a 4-2
defeat of Wentworth earlier in the week.

Chris Ries, Colby
(Junior, Goaltender - Pittsburgh, Pa.)
Chris Ries made 48 saves in two games leading the Mules to a 1-0-1
weekend. He stopped 30 shots to help the Mules secure a 2-2 tie
with 11th-ranked New England College on Saturday. He also had 18
saves in Colby’s 6-2 victory over St. Anselm. Ries had a .923
save percentage for the weekend.
