2006-07 NESCAC Men's Ice Hockey Players of the Week
March 5, 2007
Scott Bartlett,
Middlebury
(Junior, Forward - Pittsford, N.Y.)
Bartlett was a key factor in helping the Panthers capture their
seventh NESCAC Men's Ice Hockey Championship over the weekend at
Bowdoin. During Saturday's semifinal against Colby, Bartlett scored
two goals, including the game-winner late in the third period, to
lift Middlebury to a 4-3 win. Bartlett also assisted on the
Panthers' second goal against the Mules for a three-point evening.
He is sixth on the team in scoring this season with seven goals and
six assists for 13 points.

AJ Scola, Amherst
(Junior, Goaltender - Holden, Mass.)
In just his fourth start of the season, Scola turned aside 33 shots
for his second shutout this year in a 2-0 empty-net win by Amherst
at Wesleyan in the quarterfinals of the 2007 NESCAC Men's Ice
Hockey Championship. Scola stood tall in the third period, stopping
all 14 shots in the final frame to preserve the victory while
handing the Cardinals their first and only shutout of the year.

Ryan Howarth, Connecticut
College
(Freshman, Forward - Grand Blanc, Mich.)
Howarth helped propel the Camels into the 2007 NESCAC Men's Ice
Hockey Championship over the weekend by scoring both game-winning
goals and finishing the weekend with five points. Friday evening at
UMass Boston, Howarth assisted on the go-ahead goal 20 seconds into
the third period before scoring the eventual game-winner three
minutes later in a 4-2 win. He followed up the performance on
Saturday at Babson by scoring the last two goals of the game - the
game-tying goal midway through the third period and the
game-winning goal 56 seconds into overtime - along with an assist
for a three-point night.

Tim McVaugh, Bowdoin
(Senior, Forward/Defender - Hamilton, N.Y.)
McVaugh helped the Polar Bears claim first place in the conference
standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season with
three goals and two assists for five points. Friday evening against
Trinity, McVaugh had a hand in four of Bowdoin's five goals,
scoring two and assisting on two others, including the game-winner,
in a 5-4 win. On Saturday against Wesleyan, McVaugh tied the game
at two in the second period with his sixth goal of the season, as
the Polar Bears went on to an eventual 3-2 victory.

Will Bennett,
Wesleyan
(Senior, Forward - Boston, Mass.)
Bennett proved to be the offensive key for Wesleyan over the
weekend, as the Cardinals skated away with two victories and
reached the top of the NESCAC standings for the first time this
season. Bennett finished the two game set with two goals and three
assists, scoring the eventual game-winner and adding in an assist
against Tufts on Friday before having a hand in all three Cardinal
goals on Saturday during a 3-2 victory over Connecticut College.
After assisting on the first two goals against the Camels, Bennett
broke a 2-2 deadlock with 5:47 remaining in the third period for
the win. Wesleyan is now 10-1-3 in its last 14 games.

Joel Covelli, Amherst
(Sophomore, Forward - Carlisle, Ont.)
Covelli helped his team earn two important conference victories on
the road over the weekend, collecting four points on a goal and
three assists. Friday evening, Covelli assisted on the game-winner
in the third period to help Amherst come-from-behind to upend
Connecticut College 2-1. Saturday afternoon, Covelli scored the
game's first goal and assisted on two more in a 5-2 win at Tufts.
Covelli is tied for the conference lead in points with 28 on six
goals and 22 assists through 17 games this season.
January 22, 2007
Mark Pulde, Williams
(Freshman, Goaltender - Lexington, Mass.)
In two starts for the Ephs last week, Pulde made 63 saves on 66
shots for a .955 save percentage, picking up his first collegiate
shutout in the process. Tuesday evening at Middle-bury, Pulde
turned aside 29 shots in a losing effort before returning to the
net on Saturday with a 34-save shutout performance against New
England College in a 1-0 win. Pulde holds a 2.52 goals against
average and a league-best .929 save percentage through six
appearances with a 3-3-0 record.

John Halverson,
Trinity
(Senior, Defender - Lexington, Mass.)
Halverson scored five of Trinity's eight goals last week, three of
which came on the power-play. Halverson opened the week with the
game-tying goal in a 2-2 draw at Curry, followed by a goal in a
loss at St. Anselm on Friday. He finished the week with a hat trick
in a 4-4 tie at New England College on Saturday. Halverson leads
the Bantams in scoring this season with 10 goals and three assists
for 13 points through 13 games.
January 8, 2007
Greg Osborne, Colby
(Senior, Forward - Stoughton, Mass.)
Osborne tallied an impressive six goals along with three assists in
a 2-1 week for the Mules. On Tuesday evening, Osborne netted a hat
trick with an assist in a victory over Curry, scoring the game's
first two goals. He scored the Mules' lone goal in a tough 2-1 loss
at New England College on Friday before finishing the week with two
goals and two assists in a 7-3 win at St. Anselm on Saturday.
Osborne leads the league in scoring with 11 goals so far.
December 11, 2006
Will Bennett,
Wesleyan
(Senior, Forward - Boston, Mass.)
Bennett tallied two goals and added in three assists during the
Cardinals' 1-0-1 weekend, a win over Salve Regina on Friday and a
tie at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday. Bennett scored a critical
marker in the third period against Salve Regina on Friday to help
Wesleyan pull away as part of a two goal, two assist performance.
Saturday afternoon, Bennett assisted on the lone Cardinal goal as
the 1-1 draw at UMass Dartmouth brought the Corsairs' 27-game
regular season winning streak to a halt.

Casey Deak, Hamilton
(Senior, Forward - Bloomingdale, N.J.)
Deak scored four goals and assisted on two more during a 2-0
weekend for the Continentals. On Friday against St. Michael's, Deak
posted a goal and two assists in Hamilton's 6-3 win, assisting on
the eventual game-winning goal. Saturday after-noon against
Norwich, the senior captain recorded a natural hat trick in the
second period, bringing Hamilton from a 2-0 deficit to a 3-2 lead
before an eventual 5-4 win.
November 27, 2006
T.J. Kelley, Colby
(Junior, Forward - Ridgefield, Conn.)
Kelley had four goals and two assists over two games last weekend.
Kelley scored two goals during Saturday's 6-3 exhibition loss to
the US Under-18 team before netting another two goals along with
two assists in a 10-1 victory over Assumption on Sunday. Sunday's
outing gave Kelley 60 career points with the Mules (25-35- 60)
through 47 appearances.

Matt Gluck, Connecticut
College
(Senior, Goaltender - Morganville, N.J.)
Gluck keyed a 1-1 road weekend for the Camels, posting a 1.51 goals
against average and a .940 save percentage as he stopped 47 of 50
shots. On Friday night at Williams, Gluck made 22 saves, turning
aside 11 shots in the third period, to help the Camels earn a 2-1
win. Gluck followed his performance on Friday by making 25 saves on
Saturday afternoon at Middlebury, surrendering two goals in a 2-1
loss to the Panthers.
