2004 Men's Soccer Championship Seeding Released

Williams Will Host Championship's Final Weekend

HADLEY, Mass. — With a 2-0 win Saturday at rival Amherst, Williams College secured the top seed and a first round bye in the NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship. Williams, who finished the regular season with a 7-1-1 conference mark (10-2-2 overall), will host the semifinals and finals on Saturday-Sunday, November 6-7.

First round games will begin Sunday, October 31 at 12:00 p.m. as Middlebury (6-1-2 NESCAC, 10-2-2 overall) hosts seventh seeded Tufts (4-5 NESCAC, 8-5-1 overall). Middlebury won the first meeting between the two schools this year 2-0 in Middlebury, Vermont.

Bowdoin (6-3 NESCAC, 9-5 overall) will be the third seed and will host sixth seed Amherst (5-4 NESCAC, 10-4 overall). The Polar Bears fell to the Lord Jeffs 1-0 earlier this year in Brunswick.

Fifth seed Bates (5-3-1 NESCAC, 10-3-1 overall) will travel to fourth seed Wesleyan (5-3-1 NESCAC, 7-5-1 overall) in other first round action. Bates and Wesleyan tied their regular season meeting 1-1. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical records.

The top seven teams qualify for the NESCAC Championship. First round games will be played on Sunday, October 31 at 12:30 p.m. First round winners will advance to the semifinals at Williams on Saturday, November 6. Teams are rebracketed entering the semifinal round with number one seed Williams playing the lowest remaining seed. The NESCAC Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.

No. 1 Williams vs. lowest remaining seed - 11:00 a.m.
Remaining first round winners - 1:30 p.m.

Championship - Sunday, Nov.7 at Williams
Semifinal winners - 12:00 p.m.
