HADLEY, Mass. – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced Tuesday its Pocock All-America team for the 2012 season. The CRCA All-America squad, which recognizes the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains at NCAA Division III institutions, featured eight individuals from six separate NESCAC squads. Of the eight individuals selected, seven earned All-NESCAC First Team plaudits earlier this month.

From NESCAC champion Williams on the All-America First Team were seniors Jane McClellan (Concord, Mass.) and Lindsay Olsen (Homer, Alaska). The duo will be a part of an Eph squad looking to defend its varsity eight national title and win an eighth overall NCAA women's rowing title at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. this weekend.

Bates and Trinity, which will also compete at the national championship regatta this weekend, each placed an individual on the All-America First Team. Representing the Bobcats was senior Elizabeth Sonshine (Short Hills, N.J.), and she was joined on the First Team by the Bantams' Allison Friedlander (West Windsor, N.J.), also a senior.

Senior Haley Sive (Glenville, N.Y.) helped Bates match Williams' two All-Americans, as she was selected to the Second Team. Also on the CRCA All-America Second Team were Colby senior Caroline Riina (Baltimore, Md.), senior Holly Bailey (Gwynedd Valley, Pa.) of Hamilton, and senior Greer Dent (Washington, D.C.) of Wesleyan.

The general requirements for nominating a student-athlete for CRCA post season honors are:  the student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution; the student-athlete must have participated in at least 75% of all races during the current season; the student-athlete must have rowed at least 75% of the season's races in the varsity boat; the student-athlete must be nominated by her institution; the Head Coach of the student-athlete's institution must be a member in good standing of the CRCA.
