WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - First-year Ariana Mullin hit two home runs and drove in three runs Saturday morning as the Trinity College softball team held off Amherst, 4-3, in an elimination game of the 2006 NESCAC Softball Tournament.

Mullin cracked a two-run home run in the first off Amherst starter Miya Warner. Sophomore Laura Cutler then launched a solo homer in the bottom of the second and Mullin hit her second of the game in the third, a solo shot which made it 4-0 Trinity and drove Warner from the game.

Bantam hurler Victoria Moshier held a no-hitter for 4 2/3 innings and a shutout through five, but the Lord Jeffs rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth. Lindsey Harrington led off with an infield single to short and advanced to second on a single by Laura Trigeiro. A two-base error allowed one run to score, and Ralina Shaw followed with an RBI-single to left. The third run scored on a fielder's choice, and the Jeffs had runners on first and second with one out, but Moshier retired the next two batters on fly outs to quash the rally.

Moshier retired Amherst in order in the top of the seventh. She allowed four hits over seven innings, walking no one and striking out one while improving to 9-4. Warner allowed four runs on five hits over 2 1/3 innings and took the loss.
