MEDFORD, Mass. - Freshman Patricia Cipicchio (Southmont, N.C.) and sophomore Ariana Mullin (Woodbridge, Va.) each blasted two-run homers in back-to-back innings to pace Trinity College to a 7-5 victory over Williams College in the 2007 NESCAC Softball Championship at Tufts University's Spicer Field.

The Bantams (22-10) will now face Tufts University in the Championship Round of the NESCAC Tournament Sunday morning, as this is Trinity's first ever appearance in the Championship Round of the NESCAC Championship. Williams is eliminated from the tournament with a 20-16 record.

Junior Beth Gostanian (Windham, N.H.) led off the bottom of the second with a single and scored on Cippichio's first homer of the season. In the bottom of the third, senior Stacy Hills (Menlo Park, Calif.) was hit by a pitch and then Mullin drove her home with her fifth round-tripper of the season.

The Ephs opened the contest with a lead-off homer by sophomore Joey Lye (Scarborough, Ont.) and led 3-0 after their half of the second inning.

In the top of the second, senior Regine Lim (San Mateo, Calif.) singled through the left side and advanced to second on her seventh stolen base of the season. Lim then went to third after a throwing error by the Trinity third baseman, allowing first-year Mary Gelber (Winnetka, Ill.) to reach safely. Both Lim and Gelber scored after a second error by the Bantams' third baseman, allowed first-year Katie Balnkshain (Wilmette, Ill.) to reach safely.

Trinity then added a pair in the bottom of the fourth to increase its advantage to 6-3 as Cipicchio and freshman Jessica Tait (North Salem, N.Y.) each crossed the plate. Williams then cut the lead to 6-4 as junior Taryn Goodman (New City, N.Y.) drove home Blankshain, who had led off the inning with a walk. The Ephs got to within one run, 6-5, in the top of the sixth as Lim doubled to right-center and scored after a double to left center by Gelber. Sophomore Lydia Turner (Dallas, Texas) in a pitch-hitting situation blasted her second home run of the year to end the scoring for the Bantams.

Tait collected a pair of hits on the afternoon, as Trinity banged out seven in the contest. Sophomore Gabrielle Sergi (Walpole, Mass.) started the contest for the Bantams and pitched two innings, while giving up three runs, one earned on three hits with one strikeout. Senior Sara Dougherty (Long Valley, N.J.) relieved Sergi at the start of the third inning. Dougherty gave up two runs, both earned on six hits with three walks and a strikeout, while improving to 9-6 on the year.

Becky Sansone (Glen Gardner, N.J.) and Lim were the only two Williams players to have two hits in the contest, as the Ephs belted nine hits overall. Sophomore Morgan Simpson (McLean, Va.), who fell to 10-5 on the year, pitched 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs, six earned on seven hits, while walking two and striking out three. Fellow sophomore Emily Fowler-Cornfeld (St. Louis, Mo.) pitched to one batter in relief of Simpson, enticing a pop-out to the catcher in foul ground.
