Higher Seeds Advance Following First Round of Women's Squash Championship

HARTFORD, Conn. - The higher seeds all advanced during the first round of the 2012 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Trinity on Friday evening.

Sixth-seeded Amherst and seventh-seeded Bowdoin both registered 9-0 victories over Tufts and Connecticut College, respectively. The Lord Jeffs will face rival Williams during Saturday's quarterfinals, while the Polar Bears will meet Bates. Both matches are scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.

Eighth-seeded Wesleyan had all it could handle in ninth-seeded Colby. The Mules took the top three matches in the ladder, however the Cardinals 4-of-5 matches in three-game sweeps. Wesleyan faces top seed and defending champ Trinity on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

The remaining quarterfinal match features fifth-seeded Hamilton versus fourth-seeded Middlebury at 12:00 p.m. Winners of Saturday's quarterfinals will meet in the semifinals later Saturday afternoon.
