Williams Holds 175-Point Lead After Day One at Women's Swimming & Diving Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Williams College women's swimming and diving team took a commanding 175-point lead after the first day of the NESCAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championship hosted by Bowdoin College. Behind five winning performances, the Ephs accumulated 685.5 points ahead of Amherst (510) and Tufts (425).

Williams freshman Logan Todhunter posted the top individual performance of the night, winning the 50-yard butterfly in a NESCAC record time of 24.55, shattering the previous mark by almost a full second. The Ephs also received individual victories from Courtney Asher in the 50-yard breaststroke and Ellen Ramsey in the 200 individual medley. Williams also claimed a pair of relay wins, taking the 200-yard freestyle relay in a NESCAC-record time of 1:34.38 and placing first in the 400 medley relay in a meet-record pace of 3:47.80.

Other individual winners on day one included Kelsey Potdevin of Colby, who collected a meet record in winning the 50 backstroke in 26.56. Amherst's Kendra Stern won the 500 yard freestyle event while Middlebury's Emily McDonald claimed the 50 freestyle race. Bates senior Kelsey Lamdin won the one-meter diving competition by accumulating 466.90 points in setting a new Greason Pool record.
