MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Williams won its 10th NESCAC title, capturing the 2010 NESCAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Middlebury College on Sunday evening. The Ephs ended the event with 1,954 points, well-ahead of the rest of their competitors. Amherst finished the weekend in second place (1,376), followed by Middlebury (1,148) and Tufts (1,070.5).
Caroline Wilson started things off for Williams on Sunday, setting a new pool record with a time of 16:57.22 in the 1,650 free. Amherst captured the next two events, as Emily Swett won the 200 back (2:02.55) and Kendra Stern won the 100 free with a new meet and pool-record time of 50.31. Christina Metca and K.C. Ha of Williams won the next pair of events, with Metca winning the 200 breaststroke (2:22.86) and Ha following with a victory in the 200 fly (2:03.20).
Middlebury’s Megan Collins was victorious in the final individual event of the day, capturing the three-meter diving competition with 442.35 points, a new pool record.
The Ephs capped the night as Katharine O’Leary, Wilson, Jullian Hancock and Carolyn Geller won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:30.43.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Williams extended its lead on day two of the 2010 NESCAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Middlebury College. The Ephs now have 1,337.5 points to lead Amherst (1,000.5), Middlebury (836) and Tufts (796.5).
Saturday’s events featured six different winners in individual events. Jennifer Friedlander of Middlebury started things off by setting a pool record with a time of 10:18.30 in the 1000 free. Caroline Wilson of Williams won the 400 IM (4:28.99), while her teammate Logan Todhunter captured the 100 fly in 56.58, a new pool record.
Amherst’s Kendra Stern broke
her own meet record, along with the pool record in the 200 free
(1:54.10). Lisa Cucolo of Williams captured the 100 breaststroke
(1:05.94), while Emily Swett of Amherst won the 100 back
(58.01).
In relay action, K.C. Ha, Liz Visconti, Todhunter and Carolyn
Geller of Williams won the 200 medley with a combined time of
1:46.41. The evening concluded with the Middlebury team of
Katherine Loftus, Friedlander, Nora Daly and Audrey Tolbert winning
the 800 free relay with a time of 7:35.33.
Action resumes on Sunday with trials at 10:00 a.m. and finals beginning at 5:30 p.m.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Williams leads after day one of the 2010 NESCAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Middlebury College. The Ephs have earned 663.5 points, followed by Amherst (518.5), Tufts (443.5) and Middlebury (432). Action resumes on Saturday with trials at 10:00 a.m. and finals beginning at 5:50 p.m.
Logan Todhunter of Williams captured the 50 fly event, setting a new pool record with a time of 25.27. She was also a part of the Williams 200 free relay team that won the NESCAC title.
Amherst’s Kendra Stern broke her own meet record with a time of 4:52.14 to win the 500 free, while Lindsay Gardel of Tufts set a new pool record with 437.95 points to capture the one-meter diving completion. Ellen Ramsey of Williams won the 200 IM in 2:05.98, also earning a win as part of the 400 medley relay squad.
