Williams' Thompson Named Swimmer of the Meet
HADLEY, Mass. – The NESCAC announced the 2013-14 Women's Swimming & Diving All-Conference Team. The top three finishers in each event at the 2014 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships received All-Conference recognition.
Williams junior Sarah Thompson (Evanston, Ill.) was named the Swimmer of the Meet for the first time in her career. Thompson won individual titles in the 200, 500 and 1,650-yard freestyle events. She swam the anchor leg of the winning 200, 400 and 800-yard freestyle relays that established pool records, and the anchor leg of the 400-yard medley relay.
Hamilton senior Maggie Rosenbaum (Alford, Mass.) was named Four Year High Point Swimmer. Rosenbaum capped off her career as a four-time champion in the 50 and 100-yard backstrokes and a three-time champion in the 200 backstroke. She was the 2012 and 2013 Swimmer of the Meet.
Williams senior McKenzie Murdoch (Winnetka, Ill.) earned Diver of the Meet honors for the second time in her career, after collecting first place in the 3-meter Diving with a pool record and finishing second in the 1-meter Diving events. Murdoch, the 2010 Diver of the Meet as well, was recognized as Four Year High Point Diver.
Rookie of the Year Megan Pierce (Wayland,
Mass.) from Williams set a new pool record when she won the
400-yard individual medley and captured the 200-yard butterfly
title. She was also a member of the winning 800-yard freestyle
relay and posted a runner-up finish in the 1,650-yard
Bates’ Peter Casares was named Coach of the Year, while Kit Callahan Koch of Williams earned Diving Coach of the Year honors. Casares earned the award for the first time in his career as the Bobcats posted a program-high fourth place finish with 1,132 points. Koch received the award for the seventh time in her career after having three divers place in the top five of both diving events. She earned the recognition in 2001-04 and 2011-12.
