Amherst Women Finish Fourth at Track & Field Championships
OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Amherst Women's Track and Field team finished fourth at the the 2007 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Oshkosh, Wis., while the Williams Women's squad finished in a three-way tie for ninth. Over on the Men's side, Hamilton was the top finishing NESCAC program, as the Continentals finished in a four-way tie for 27th, and Tufts was close behind in a two-way tie for 31st.

Amherst senior Shauneen Garrahan came away with three women's individual titles during the three day event. Garrahan took home the 10,000-meter crown on Thursday with a track record time of 34:48.19 before setting an NCAA Championship record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday with a time of 10:13.33. She closed out the weekend on Saturday with the 5,000-meter title, setting another track record with a time of 16:49.54.
On the men's side, Hamilton freshman Peter Kosgei was the only individual to claim a national title, as his track-record time of 8:55.41 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase was the top showing in the event.
