Williams Earns 2008 Men's & Women's Track & Field Championships

CLINTON, N.Y. - Williams College won both the Men's and Women's titles at the 2008 NESCAC Track & Field Championships hosted by Hamilton College at the Pritchard Track & Field complex. On the Women's Side, Williams claimed first with 160.5 points, while Tufts (120) edged Middlebury (119.5) for second. The Ephs beat out the Jumbos by a 195-183 score.
Junior Deividas Seferis helped lead the Williams
men to victory with wins in the 200- and 400-meter dash. Williams
swept the three relay events and its 400-meter relay set meet and
facility records with a time of 41.68 seconds. Hamilton College
sophomore Peter Kosgei broke meet and facility records in the 800-
and 1,500-meter run with times of 1:50.62 and 3:51.41,
respectively. Bates College senior Noah Gauthier finished first in
the shot put and the hammer throw. Wesleyan University senior Sam
Grover established meet and facility records in the triple jump
with a mark of 14.54 meters.
Senior Caroline Plitt helped carry the Williams women to victory
with wins in the 200 and 400 meters. Plitt's time of 24.95 seconds
in the 200 set meet and facility records. Williams won all three
relay events. Sophomore Logan Crane was a double-winner for Tufts
University. Crane finished first in the long jump with a mark of
5.32 meters and sprinted to a title in the 100-meter dash with a
time of 12.32 seconds. Colby College's senior Anna King broke her
own meet record and set a facility record in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase with a time of 10:34.65.
