2001 Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week
May 7, 2001
Julia Bergofsky, Middlebury
(Junior, Midfiedler - Exeter, N.H.)
Bergofsky scored six goals and assisted on two other goals in two
games as Middlebury won the conference title in the inaugural
NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. She scored four goals and
added two assists in a 16-8 victory over Colby in the semifinals.
She scored two goals in a 9-6 title game win over Amherst as the
Panthers clinched their eighth consecutive NCAA appearance.
April 30 2001
Betsy Wheeler, Middlebury
(Senior, Attack - Wenham, Mass.)
Wheeler scored nine goals and added three assists in two wins as
Middlebury earned the top seed for the NESCAC tournament. She
scored three goals and recorded her 200th career point as the
Panthers handed Williams its first loss of the season. She scored
six goals in a 17-6 win over
Bates.

Marcia Ingraham, Colby
(Junior, Attack - Georgetown, Mass.)
Ingraham scored five goals and assisted on another as Colby
defeated Connecticut College for the second time in school history,
11-10. The fifth goal gave her 100 for her career. She finished the
week with 11 goals and three assists in three
victories.

Sarah Scheessele, Amherst
(Senior, Attack - Pittsburgh, Pa.)
Scheessele led Amherst to a 3-0 week with 11 goals and two assists.
She scored a game-high four goals against Wesleyan, becoming the
sixth player in school history to surpass the 100-goal mark for her
career.
April 9, 2001
Char Glessner, Middlebury
(Sophomore, Midfielder - Ipswich, Mass.)
Glessner scored four goals as third-ranked Middlebury defeated
top-ranked Amherst 18-11. She also scored four goals and added two
assists in a 19-4 victory over Union.
April 2, 2001
Catherine Clark, Connecticut College
(Freshman, Attack - West Hartford, Conn.)
Clark led Connecticut College to a 2-0 week. She scored five
second-half goals to lead the Camels to a come-from-behind 10-9 win
at Trinity. She scored four goals, including the winner in double
overtime, and assisted on two other goals, in a 7-6 victory over
Bowdoin.
Kristin Osborn,
Amherst
(Senior, Midfielder - Morristown, N.J.)
Osborn became the all-time Amherst leader in points and goals with
six goals and an assist in a 14-3 win over Colby. With the
seven-point game, she has scored 133 goals and totaled 192
points.
