2003 Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week
May 5, 2003
Kate Perine, Middlebury
(Senior, Defender - Middlebury, Vt.)
Perine led the impressive Panther defense this weekend that allowed
just eight goals in two NESCAC Tournament games. She helped hold
Amherst scoreless for the final 17:24 of Sunday's Championship
game. Perine has helped lead the Middlebury defense all season long
as they head into their 10th consecutive NCAA Tournament.
April 28, 2003
Liz Martin, Amherst
(Junior, Midfielder - Baltimore, Md.)
Martin was the sparkplug for Amherst's three victories this week
including an overtime decision at 6th ranked Williams and a
come-from-behind victory in the first round of the NESCAC
Tournament. The junior accumulated 11 goals and one assist,
highlighted by a five-goal outburst in the Jeffs' playoff win
against Wesleyan.
April 21, 2003
Abby Ouimet, Amherst
(Senior, Attacker - Hatfield, Mass.)
Senior attacker Abby Ouimet led Amherst to a 2-0 week, scoring
three goals and dishing out three assists in a non-conference win
at Springfield and repeating the performance on Saturday in a 16-11
win over Bowdoin, for a total of 12 points on the week.
Char Glessner,
Middlebury
(Senior, Attacker - Ipswich, Mass.)
Glessner scored nine goals and dished out four assists in a pair of
wins for Middlebury. She scored five goals and added three assists
in a win over Division I Vermont, while scoring four goals and
adding an assist in a NESCAC win over Trinity. Glessner leads the
team and the NESCAC with 34 goals and 50 points on the season.
April 14, 2003
Kristin Hanley, Middlebury
(Senior, Midfielder - Seattle, Wash.)
Hanley dished out seven assists and scored five goals for 12 points
in Middlebury’s 15-7 win at Bowdoin. The 12-point effort tied
a school record set by Kim Griffith almost 10 years ago. She now
leads the team with 40 points on the season and leads the NESCAC
with 3.43 assists per game.
Ally King,
Colby
(Senior, Attacker - Hartford, Conn.)
King scored her 100th collegiate goal and moved within five points
of 200 career points to lead the Mules to a 3-0 week. King had 7
goals and 9 assists in the 3 games. She had the game-winning goal
with just 9.3 seconds left and had three goals and one assist in an
11-10 league win over Tufts on Saturday. On Sunday, King was part
of half of Colby’s goals with her 3 goals and 3 assists in a
12-9 win against Trinity. She started the week off with 1 goal and
5 assists against Southern Maine.
April 7, 2003
Char Glessner, Middlebury
(Senior, Attacker - Ipswich, Mass.)
Glessner scored five goals and dished out seven assists for 12
points in a 2-0 week for Middlebury. She scored two goals and has
three assists in the win over Union, while tallying three and
giving out four helpers in the Panther's win over Amherst.
Top-ranked Middlebury's 16-5 win over second-ranked Amherst,
increased their winning streak to 41 games.
March 31, 2003
Beatrice Gratry, Trinity
(Sophomore, Attacker - Huntington Valley, Ohio)
Gratry totaled 42 goals and 13 assists in seven games to lead
Trinity to a 7-0 record, its best start since 1999. She scored a
career-high nine goals in a win against Dickinson.
