Williams Upends Colby in First Round of Women's Lacrosse Championship

WATERVILLE, Maine - Rachel Barr (Hanover, N.H.) had four goals and one assist and teammate Tara Boyd (New Canaan, Conn.) added four assists as fifth-seeded Williams College took an 8-6 win over fourth-seeded Colby College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women's lacrosse quarterfinal game Sunday at Bill Alfond Field.
Williams will play at top-seeded
Middlebury in a NESCAC semifinal game this Saturday at noon.
Barr had all three goals for Williams (11-4) in the first half as
the two teams battled to a 3-3 tie at the break.
Colby took its first lead of the game at 6-5 when Courtney Drake (Falmouth, Maine) scored with 11:18 remaining. Williams, though, answered back just 10 seconds later at 11:08 on a goal by Amy Wicker (New Canaan, Conn.). Barr then got the eventual game-winning goal with 9:32 left.
Kaylan Tildsley (Andover, Mass.) had two goals and Wicker finished with one goal and one assist.
Emma Miller (Wellesley, Mass.) had two goals for Colby (11-5).
Ann Woods (Hopkinton, N.H.) made 12 saves for Williams, while Catharine O'Brien (Reading, Vt.) stopped 10 shots for the Mules.
