Williams Upends Colby in First Round for Second-Straight Year

WATERVILLE, Maine - Williams
College scored five unanswered goals to turn a 9-8 lead into a 14-8
margin on the way to a 17-11 victory over Colby College in a New
England Small College Athletic Conference women's lacrosse
quarterfinal game Sunday at Bill Alfond Field.
Williams, the sixth seed, will play at top-seeded Middlebury
College in a semifinal game next Saturday.
Kaylan Tildsley (Andover, Mass.) had three goals and three assists to lead Williams (9-5). The Ephs also got four goals and one assist from Rachel Barr (Hanover, N.H.), three goals and two assists by Britt Spackman (Newton, Mass.) and one goal and four assists from Sarah Adkins (Oxford, Md.). Sara duPont (Easton, Md.) added three goals and Elizabeth Pierce (Wilmington, Del.) finished with a pair of goals.
Williams led 8-5 at halftime, but the Mules crept back in the game and got the lead down to 9-8 when Carrie Lovejoy (Old Greenwich, Conn.) scored with 23 minutes left in the second half. The Ephs, though, scored the next five goals to pull away for good.
Allie Libby (Needham, Mass.) had three goals and one assist to lead third-seeded Colby (13-3). Lovejoy, Elizabeth Ghilardi (Norwell, Mass.) and Lauren Barrett (Fairfield, Conn.) all had two goals.
Williams goalie Meghan Dwyer (Norwell, Mass.) and Colby keeper Catharine O'Brien (Reading, Vt.) both had 10 stops.
