2006 Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week

Kim Walker, Middlebury
(Junior, Midfielder - Ridgewood, N.J.)
Walker scored six goals and added in two assists over the weekend
as Middlebury captured its sixth-straight NESCAC Women’s
Lacrosse Championship. The junior midfielder scored three goals and
had a pair of helpers in a semifinal victory over Williams on
Saturday, followed by scoring three more goals in the championship
game over Bowdoin on Sunday afternoon. Walker also played stellar
defense, while earning five draw controls.

Britt Spackman, Williams
(Freshman, Midfielder - Newton, Mass.)
Spackman had a consistent week for the Ephs, notching eight goals
and 12 assists for 20 points through three games. Spackman started
the week with three goals and two assists at Middle-bury on
Wednesday, followed by scoring two goals and picking up seven
assists against Tufts on Saturday. She closed out the week on
Sunday at Colby with three goals and three assists to help Williams
advance to the semifinals of the 2006 NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse
Champion-ship. Spackman leads the Ephs this season with 65 points
on 32 goals and 33 assists.

Alyssa Briody, Amherst
(Junior, Attack - Hopwell, N.J.)
Briody had an outstanding week for the Jeffs last week, combining
for 15 points on nine goals and six assists through three wins. She
opened the week with a career-high eight points (4-4-8) in a win
over Wheaton on Wednesday, followed by tallying four goals -
including the game-winner with 3.9 seconds remaining in overtime -
during a 12-11 victory at Colby. Briody capped the week with a goal
and an assist in a 9-8 win at Bates on Sunday.

Bobbi Dennison, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, Midfielder - Freeport, Maine)
In the Polar Bears’ lone game last week, Dennison led all
scorers with five goals and an assist, helping her club to a 13-9
decision over Trinity on Saturday. Dennison, who also forced three
turnovers in the game, has 20 goals and 13 assists this season,
ranking her second among her teammates in scoring.

Catharine O'Brien, Colby
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Reading, Vt.)
O’Brien made a total of 48 saves while allowing only 25 goals
(.658 save %) during a 3-0 week for the Mules, with two victories
coming on the road against NESCAC foes. She made 22 saves in a
21-10 win at Bates on Wednesday, followed by stopping 18 shots in a
13-12 victory at previously-unbeaten Tufts on Saturday.
O’Brien closed out the week with eight saves in a victory
over Keene St. on Sunday.
Rachel Barr, Williams
(Senior, Attack - Hanover, N.H.)
Barr scored 14 goals and added in one assist in a 2-0 week for the
Ephs, who defeated Springfield 20-16 on Wednesday and Trinity 14-2
on Saturday in NESCAC action. Barr scored nine goals and had her
lone assist against Springfield, then added five goals in the win
over Trinity. She currently leads Williams, which is in the midst
of a six-game winning streak, with 36 goals in eight games.

Elizabeth Renehan, Middlebury
(Senior, Midfielder - St. Davids, Pa.)
Renehan scored six goals and added in three assists in a 2-0 week
for the Panthers. She scored two goals and picked up an assist in a
win over Union on Tues-day, before scoring four goals and dishing
out a pair of assists in a road victory at NESCAC foe Trinity.
Renehan also caused eight turnovers and scooped up seven ground
balls.

Dena Miller, Tufts
(Senior, Attack - Denver, Colo.)
Miller posted seven goals and three assists to help the Jumbos to a
2-0 week. Against Buffalo St. on Monday, Miller tallied two goals
and two assists, including the game-winner, in a 13-4 victory. She
followed up Monday’s performance with five goals and an
assist in a 16-5 win at Bridgewater St. on Saturday. After being
held scoreless in her first outing, Miller is 11-5-16 over her last
three games.

Kate Sheridan, Colby
(Freshman, Midfielder - Hingham, Mass.)
Sheridan collected five goals, including the eventual game-winner,
during an 11-9 victory for Colby over NESCAC foe Williams on
Saturday afternoon. With Colby trailing 3-0 early in the game,
Sheridan contributed three goals in the first half to help the
Mules draw even at six apiece at halftime. She also had five ground
balls and two draw controls during the contest.

Paige Pascarelli, Connecticut College
(Freshman, Midfielder - Wayne, Pa.)
The rookie Pascarelli erupted for five goals and one assist on
Saturday against Wellesley, helping her squad to a 15-9 victory in
the season-opener for the Camels.
