Middlebury Earns Top Seed for 2000 Women's Soccer Championship

HARTFORD, Conn. – Middlebury, which finished with an 8-1-0 record in conference play during the regular season, earned the top seed for the inaugural NESCAC Women’s Soccer Championship tournament. The Panthers will host the semifinals on Saturday, October 28 and will host the championship game on Sunday, October 29.

Second-seeded Bowdoin (7-1-1), third-seeded Tufts (7-2-0), and fourth-seeded Amherst (5-3-1) earned home games in the opening round of the tournament, which begins on Tuesday. Bowdoin will host seventh-seeded Colby (4-5-0), Tufts plays at home against fifth-seeded Bates (5-4-0), and Amherst hosts sixth-seeded Williams (4-5-0).

The top seven teams in regular season conference play qualify for the NESCAC championship tournament. The top-seeded team hosts the semifinal and final rounds, while the next three seeds play home games in the first round. The final three seeds play road games in the opening round based on seeding and geographical considerations. The top seed faces the lowest remaining seed in one semifinal and the other two first round winners face off in the other semifinal.

Semifinals - Saturday, Oct. 28 at Middlebury
Lowest remaining seed at No. 1 Middlebury (8-1-0) - 11:00 a.m.
Remaining first round winners - 1:30 p.m.

Championship - Sunday, Oct. 29 at Middlebury
Semifinal winner - 12:00 p.m.
