Women's Soccer Championship Field Announced

Bowdoin Earns Top Seed

HARTFORD, Conn. - With a 1-0 win Saturday at rival Bates, Bowdoin College secured the top seed and a first round bye in the NESCAC Women’s Soccer Championship. Bowdoin, who finished the regular season with a 7-2 conference mark (12-2 overall), will host the semifinals and finals on Saturday-Sunday, November 8-9.

First round games will begin Sunday, November 2 at 12:00 p.m. as Amherst (5-2-2 NESCAC, 9-3-2 overall) hosts seventh seeded Tufts (4-5 NESCAC, 9-5 overall). Tufts won the first meeting between the two schools this year 2-1 in Medford.

Williams (6-3 NESCAC, 8-4-2 overall) will be the third seed and will host sixth seed Middlebury (5-4 NESCAC, 10-4 overall). Middlebury beat Williams 2-1 earlier this year in Middlebury.

Fifth seed Trinity (5-3-1 NESCAC, 9-4-1 overall) will travel to fourth seed Bates (5-2-2 NESCAC, 10-2-2 overall) in other first round action.

Amherst earned the highest seed of the three teams tied for second with a .667 winning percentage through a predetermined tiebreaking procedure. In head-to-head competition, Amherst had the best record having tied Bates and defeated Williams during regular season play. Williams defeated Bates to earn the third seed.

The top seven teams qualify for the NESCAC Championship. First round games will be played on Sunday, November 2 at 12:00 p.m. First round winners will advance to the semifinals at Bowdoin on Saturday, November 8. Teams are rebracketed entering the semifinal round with number one seed Bowdoin playing the lowest remaining seed. The NESCAC Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Lowest remaining seed at No. 1 Bowdoin - 11:00 a.m.
Remaining first round winners - 1:30 p.m.

Championship - Sunday, Nov. 9 at Bowdoin
Semifinal winners - 12:00 p.m.
