Middlebury Finishes Season Unbeaten to Earn Top Seed

HADLEY, Mass. — Middlebury College, currently ranked eleventh in the country, secured the top seed and a first round bye in the NESCAC Women’s Soccer Championship with a 2-0 win over Trinity. First round games will begin Sunday, October 31 at 12:30 p.m. at the higher seeded institution.

Despite finishing the regular season unbeaten, Amherst (6-0-3 NESCAC, 9-1-4 overall) will be the tournament’s second seed. The Jeffs will host seventh seed Connecticut College (3-6 NESCAC, 8-6 overall). Amherst beat the Camels 2-0 earlier this year in Amherst, Mass.

Tufts (5-3-1 NESCAC, 7-3-3 overall) will be the third seed and will host sixth seed Williams (3-5-1 NESCAC, 7-5-2 overall). Tufts and Williams tied their regular season meeting 2-2.

Fifth seed Bowdoin (4-4-1 NESCAC, 8-5-1 overall) will travel to fourth seed Bates (4-3-2 NESCAC, 9-3-2 overall) in other first round action. The Bobcats dropped a 3-1 decision to Bowdoin during the first meeting between these two teams.
