Three NESCAC Women's Soccer Players Earn NSCAA All-America Honors

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Three NESCAC women's soccer players were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as All-Americans on Tuesday. The Williams tandem of senior forward Gabrielle Woodson (Plano, Texas) and junior goalkeeper Lauren Sinnenberg (Westfield, N.J.) were named to the All-America First Team, while Amherst junior Meg Murphy (Springfield, Mass.) earned Second Team All-America honors.

Woodson, who earned All-Amercia First Team accolades for the second year in a row, led the NESCAC in scoring this season with a program-record 15 goals and eight assists for 38 points. The 2007 NESCAC Player of the Year, Woodson earned All-NESCAC honors for the third time in her career this season, after she was named to the Second Team in 2006 and claimed First Team honors in 2007 and 2008.

Sinnenberg posted a 16-1-1 record with a 0.61 goals against average and .825 save percentage while recording nine shutouts in 21 apperances for the Ephs. She was also a two-time All-Conference First Team selection. The duo helped Williams earn a 19-1-1 record, the most wins in team history, a second-straight NESCAC Women's Soccer Championship, and a spot in the NCAA semifinals.

Murphy was honored as the NESCAC Player of the Year this past fall. Murphy, who led her team in scoring for the second year in a row, also received All-Conference First Team recognition for the third-straight season. The junior middie enjoyed a steallar season with a career-best 13 goals and five assists for 31 points through 19 games, more than double the 15 points she accumulated during her NESCAC Rookie of the Year campaign in 2006. Of Murphy’s 31 overall points, which ranked second among all conference players, 21 came in league play as she led the pack with nine goals and three assists in eight outings.
