Williams Edges Amherst in NCAA Women's Tennis Third Place Match

REDLANDS, Calif. - After falling to Washington & Lee University in the NCAA Semifinals, hosted by the University of Redlands (CA), on Thursday, the Amherst College women's tennis team dropped its NCAA third-place match to archrival Williams College, 5-4, on Friday. Amherst, which had beaten the two-time defending national champion Ephs twice during the regular season, finishes its season at 15-5. Emory University went on to win the national championship with a 5-1 victory over Washington & Lee.
Amherst's Kristen Raverta (W. Springfield, MA), Tristan Hedrick (Walnut Creek, CA) and Rachel Holt (New York, NY) each went on to play in the NCAA Singles Championships, which began on Saturday. Of the three, only Holt advanced to the second round, where she fell to Washington & Lee's Lindsay Hagerman, 6-2, 6-3.
Holt and Hedrick are also slated to begin NCAA doubles play on Saturday against Washington College's Ne'ko Browder and Shoko Nakamura.
