Amherst Wins 2005 NESCAC Women's Tennis Championship

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – After sharing the NESCAC crown with Williams a year ago, Amherst grabbed sole possession of the trophy in 2005, with a convincing win at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Middlebury College. The Jeffs ended the tournament with 31 points, followed by Tufts with 23, Middlebury with 18 and Williams with 10. Amherst won two of three singles flights and two doubles flights to capture the championship.

Middlebury’s Amy Roche captured the “A” flight singles title, with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Kristen Raverta of Amherst. Winning the “B” flight title was Tristan Hedrick of Amherst, with a 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 win over Jennifer Lejb of Tufts. Capturing the “C” flight bracket was Amherst’s Monica Snyder, with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Stephanie Ruley of Tufts.

In “A” flight doubles action, the Amherst duo of Hedrick and Rachel Holt, were 8-5 winners over Jennifer Luten and Kylyn Deary of Tufts. In the “B” flight, Raverta/Snyder of Amherst earned an 8-5 victory over Lejb and Neda Pisheva of Tufts.
