Amherst Heads to Quarterfinals of NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament with Win Over TCNJ

AMHERST, Mass. - The Amherst College women's tennis team earned a trip to the National Quarterfinals with a 5-0 win over The College of New Jersey in the Regional Finals of the NCAA Championship Tournament. The Lions end their season with a record of 15-2, while the Lord Jeffs improve to 16-4 and will resume play May 15 against an opponent to be determined.
The day began with three very competitive back-and-forth doubles matches, but Amherst was able to hang on for a trio of 8-5 victories. In the #2 singles match, first-year Brittany Berckes (Secaucus, NJ) played brilliantly en route to a 6-0, 6-2 victory, while junior Laura Stein (Rockport, ME) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win in the #6 match to seal the 5-0 Amherst win.
