Amherst's Brewer and Devlin Reach NCAA Women's Doubles Semifinals

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Amherst doubles team of Jordan Brewer and Gabby Devlin have reached the semifinals of the NCAA women's doubles tournament, which will take place on Sunday afternoon. Brewer and Devlin were one of three NESCAC doubles teams in action on Saturday, however they were the only duo to survive.

After coming away with a 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the doubles tournament on Friday, Brewer and Devlin repeated the score on Saturday with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Janelle Arita and Kelly Gebert of DePauw.

The Tufts tandem of Shelci Bowman and Julia Brown took the first set in the quarterfinals 7-6 (3), but could not win a second set, going 2-6 and 4-6 to Kristin Lim and Crystal Lim of host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

Brittany Faber and Leah Kepping of Middlebury fell in straight sets to Gabrielle Clark and Lorne McManigle of Emory in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 7-6 (1).

In the women's singles tournament, defending NCAA singles champ Browne and Williams' Kristin Alotta both reached the semifinals but could not get any farther. Alotta fell in three sets to Kendra Higgins of Chicago, 6-3, 4-6, 2-6, while Browne could not get past Kristin Lim, 3-6, 1-6.

The NCAA doubles championship will be the final match of the day on Sunday.
