Williams Downs Amherst 3-0 for 2002 Volleyball Championship

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Williams College defeated Amherst 3-0 (30-15, 30-27, 30-22) in the championship match to win the NESCAC Title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship. Williams defeated Bates 3-2 in a semifinal match earlier today to advance to the final. Amherst downed Middlebury 3-1.

On day one of the championship, seventh seed Middlebury upset second seed Colby 3-2 advance to the semifinals while Amherst defeated Tufts 3-1. Williams beat Trinity 3-0 in the day's first quarterfinal while Bates defeated fifth seed Wesleyan in a five set match, 3-2.

With the two wins, Williams improved to 33-5 on the season and set a school record for wins in a season with 33. Next up for the Ephs will be the NCAA Tournament. Seeding and Pairings will be released on Sunday, November 10.
