Williams to Host 2004 NESCAC Volleyball Championship

HADLEY, Mass. – After finishing conference play with a 10-0 record, Williams College (28-3) earned the top seed in the 2004 NESCAC Volleyball Championship. The eight-team, single elimination tournament will be held at Williams on Friday, November 5 through Sunday, November 7 in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Tufts, 9-1 in NESCAC play and 26-5 overall, will be the second seed in the tournament and will face seventh seed Bowdoin (4-6 NESCAC, 12-16 overall) at 6 p.m. Williams will meet eighth seed Wesleyan (4-6 NESCAC, 13-14 overall) at 6 p.m.

In first round action at 8:00 p.m., third seed Amherst (8-2 NESCAC, 22-6 overall) will meet sixth seeded Bates (4-6 NESCAC, 15-12 overall) and fourth seed Middlebury, who finished 7-3 in NESCAC competition and 29-11 on the year, will square off with fifth seed Colby (5-5 NESCAC, 21-9 overall).

The semifinals will be played Saturday with the Williams-Wesleyan winner facing the Middlebury-Colby winner at 1:00 p.m. and the Tufts-Bowdoin winner against the Amherst-Bates winner at 3:30 p.m. The championship final will be played Sunday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m.

Williams has won the three previous NESCAC titles defeating Bates 3-0 to capture the 2003 Championship. The NESCAC tournament champion will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Semifinals - Saturday, Nov. 6 at Williams
Williams/Wesleyan winner vs. Middlebury/Colby winner - 1:00 p.m.
Tufts/Bowdoin winner vs. Amherst/Bates winner - 3:30 p.m.

Championship - Sunday, Nov. 7 at Williams
Semifinal winners - 1:00 p.m.
