Connecticut College Outlasts Tufts in Volleyball Quarterfinals, 3-2

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Fifth-seeded Connecticut
College outlasted fourth-seeded Tufts University in a five-game
battle Friday night to post a 30-27, 25-30, 30-25, 24-30, 15-9
victory. With the win, the Camels advance to face top-seeded
Williams in the semifinals at 1 p.m. Saturday in Chandler
Gymnasium.
The upset was Conn. College's 20th win of the year, as the Camels
improved to
20-8 (7-3 in the NESCAC). Tufts ends its 2006 campaign at 23-8
(7-3).
A talented young corps powered the Camels, who have just one senior
and one junior on their roster. Leading the way for Conn. College
was first-year Maddy Baldwin, who recorded an impressive 38 assists
and 26 digs. First-year Lauren Wise also shined, as she contributed
14 kills and 23 digs. The Camels also got solid efforts from
sophomore outside hitter Caitlin Tomaska (23 kills) and first-year
Meg Christman (10 kills).
First-year Dena Feiger had 41 assists for the Jumbos, while junior
Katie Wysham and senior co-captain Dana Fleisher each recorded 12
kills.
