2006 Volleyball Players of the Week
November 6, 2006
Jaclyn DeMais, Amherst
(Junior, OH - Hillsdale, N.J.)
DeMais was outstanding for Amherst as the Jeffs posted victories
over Trinity, Wesleyan and Williams en route to the 2006 NESCAC
Volleyball Championship, the third NESCAC Volleyball crown for
Amherst and the first since 2000. Against Trinity on Friday, DeMais
had 13 kills and 14 digs during a 3-0 win. During Saturday’s
mara-thon semifinal against Wesleyan, she had 23 kills, three aces
and a block in the 3-2 victory. DeMais capped the championship with
18 kills and 26 digs in the 3-1 win over Williams on Sunday. She
finished the weekend averaging 4.5 kills per game.
October 30, 2006
Kathleen Lenz, Trinity
(Junior, L - Cheshire, Conn.)
Lenz was Trinity’s best player in a 4-0 week that saw the
Bantams defeat Amherst and Bowdoin, 3-2, and blank Bates and Colby
to go from 2-4 to 6-4 in NESCAC play. In a road match at Amherst on
Tuesday, Lenz had 32 digs and no reception errors. In three wins
over the weekend, Lenz totaled 64 digs in 11 games (5.82 per game)
with three reception errors and three aces.
Lisa Drennan,
Wesleyan
(Sophomore, OH - Ann Arbor, Mich.)
During a 4-0 week which included sweeps of Bates, Bowdoin and
Colby, Drennan collected 79 kills in 12 games (6.58 per game) with
a phenomenal .532 hitting percentage. She also added 32 digs, 10
aces and seven blocks. She is now averaging 5.53 kills per game,
well above the record in a season at Wesleyan (4.79 per game).

Kelli Harrison, Tufts
(Senior, OH - Blue Jay, Calif.)
Harrison led Tufts through a 4-1 week, which included a 3-0
non-conference victory over Williams. She averaged 4.39 kills and
3.72 digs per game with a hitting percentage of .271. On Tuesday at
Connecticut College, Harrison posted 18 kills and 21 digs during a
3-1 win. Over the weekend, Harrison collected 25 kills in a
five-game victory over Springfield and hit .316 with 16 kills in
the win over Williams.

Alisha Cahlan, Williams
(First Year, OPP - Las Vegas, Nev.)
Cahlan helped the Ephs go 3-0 for the week with 3-1 victories over
NESCAC foes Trinity and Connecticut College and a 3-0 sweep of
Wesleyan. During the win over Trinity on Friday, Cahlan registered
23 kills, 10 digs and two assists. Cahlan finished the weekend with
58 kills (5.3 per game), 23 digs, nine blocks and assists, and a
hitting percentage of .378.

Caitlin Tomaska, Connecticut College
(Sophomore, OH - Solano Beach, Calif.)
Tomaska tallied 17 kills, 15 digs, three blocks, two aces and one
assist in the Camels’ 3-1 NESCAC victory at Wesleyan on
Wednesday evening, the lone action last week for Connecticut
College. Tomaska had 22 receptions without an error, leading her
team to its fourth consecutive victory.

Kaitlin O'Reilly, Tufts
(Sophomore, S - Manhattan Beach, Calif.)
O’Reilly was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2006 Tufts
Invitational, which the Jumbos won with victories over Wellesley,
Salisbury, Cortland St. and MIT. She averaged 11.18 assists for the
tournament while adding 31 digs, four kills, two service aces and
four block assists. O’Reilly had a remarkable 41 assists in
three games against Cortland St. on Saturday, then followed up with
46 in the final match against MIT, a 3-2 Tufts win.
September 25, 2006
Lisa Drennan, Wesleyan
(Sophomore, OH - Ann Arbor, Mich.)
During the Blue Jay Classic hosted by Elizabethtown over the
weekend, Drennan averaged 6.0 kills per game with a .319 hitting
percentage, earning All-Tournament Team honors as Wesleyan went 3-1
to finish third out of eight teams. She also added in 22 digs, 11
blocks and nine aces over the 13 games of tournament play. Earlier
in the week, Drennan had 12 kills and a .391 efficiency in
Wesleyan’s 3-0 win over Rhode Island College.
September 18, 2006
Melissa Pun, Williams
(First Year, OH - San Francisco, Calif.)
Pun helped Williams earn four 3-0 victories in NESCAC play last
week, averaging 4.0 kills and 3.5 digs per game while posting a
.426 hitting percentage. During a 3- 0 victory over Colby on
Saturday, Pun registered 14 kills and 14 digs. Later in the
afternoon against Bowdoin, she contributed 17 kills and 12 digs.
September 11, 2006
Kristin Quinn, Amherst
(Senior, OH - Los Angeles, Calif.)
Quinn helped the Jeffs to the Roger Williams Invitational crown on
Saturday, leading her squad to three wins in the first action of
the season. Quinn averaged 3.11 kills while posting a hitting
percentage of .460. Against host Roger Williams, Quinn collected 15
kills, while against the University of New England Quinn recorded
seven service aces, finishing the day with 11 in all. She was also
named to the Roger Williams All-Tournament Team.
