Middlebury Women, Williams Men Win NCAA Cross Country Regional
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Middlebury women and the Williams men finished first at the NCAA Cross Country New England Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon at Mt. Greylock High School. The Panthers, the 2008 NESCAC Women's Cross Country Co-Champions, posted a score of 57 to edge second-place Williams 82. The Eph men ran away from the field, recording a score of 36 to second-place Amherst's 122 points.
Amherst senior Elise Tropiano (Plainview, N.Y.) took individual honors, completing the 6-kilometer course in 21:49. Williams senior Lauren Philbrook (Hopkinton, Mass.) was second with a time of 22:28, while Middlebury senior Alexandra Krieg (Wellesley, Mass.) was third in 22:34.
On the men's side, Williams junior Edgar Kosgey (Eldoret Rift Valley, Kenya) took top honors with a time of 25:52 over the 8-kilometer race. Tufts junior Jesse Faller (Burlington, Mass.) was second in 26:03, while Trinity senior Hunter Norte (Ellington, Conn.) placed third in 26:09.

CANTON, N.Y. - Hamilton junior Peter Kosgei (Kapsabet, Kenya) finished first once again at the men's race at the Atlantic Regional hosted by St. Lawrence University. Kosgei finished the slippery 8-kilometer course with a time of 25:18 as he led his team to a 10th place showing. The Continentals' women's team finished eighth.
