HADLEY, Mass. - Middlebury won its fifth NCAA Women’s Cross Country Championship over the weekend at Hanover College in Hanover, Ind. The Panthers placed first with a 179-point showing, 59 points ahead of second-place Calvin (237). Williams came in third with 240 points. Hamilton junior Peter Kosgei (Kapsabet, Kenya) took the men’s individual title at the 2008 NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship. Kosgei, the two-time NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer, won his first national crown as he completed the 8-kilometer race in a course-record-setting time of 24:22.03.

HADLEY, Mass. - Williams junior Edgar Kosgey (Eldoret Rift Valley, Kenya) came away as the Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Amherst senior Elise Tropiano (Plainview, N.Y.) earned Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week for Nov. 17, 2008. Both harriers were the top finishers at the NCAA New England Regional hosted by Williams College on Saturday, Nov. 15.

HADLEY, Mass. - Williams freshman Mark Springel (Medford, N.J.) earned Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week honors for Nov. 10, 2008, while junior teammate Elly Teitsworth (Ridgefield, Conn.) was named Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week.

HADLEY, Mass. - Hamilton junior Peter Kosgei (Kapsabet, Kenya) was named Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Amherst senior Elise Tropiano (Plainview, N.Y.) came away with Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week honors for Nov. 3, 2008. Both runners finished first at the 2008 NESCAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Bates at Pineland Farms over the weekend.

HADLEY, Mass. - Williams junior Jeff Perlis (Bethesda, Md.) was named Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, while senior teammate Lauren Philbrook (Hopkinton, Mass.) earned Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week. The tandem helped their respective squads capture the Little Three Championships.

HADLEY, Mass. - Colby sophomore Emma Linhard (Brunswick, Maine) was named Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week for Oct. 20, 2008. Linhard finished in second place out of 115 runners with a time of 18:49.6 at the Maine State Championships on Saturday. Her time over the 5-kilometer course helped the Mules capture the team title.

HADLEY, Mass. - Three NESCAC cross country teams were in action last week. The Bowdoin men and women took first at the Maine-Farmington Invitational, while the Middlebury men and women were second at the Vermont State Meet. At the Pre-National Invitational hosted by Hanover in Hanover, Ind., the Trinity Men came in second out of 20 teams, while the women were 10th.

HADLEY, Mass. - Tufts junior Jesse Faller (Burlington, Mass.) claimed NESCAC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week honors for Sept. 29, 2008, while Wesleyan senior Liz Wheatley (Arlington, Mass.) was named Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week. Faller finished first out of a field of 155 runners at the 41st annual Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park. In her first race of the season, Wheatley won the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday with a time of 19:28 over the 5-kilometer course.

HADLEY, Mass. - Hamilton junior Peter Kosgei (Kapsabet, Kenya) was named NESCAC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Amherst senior Elise Tropiano (Laurel Hollow, N.Y.) received NESCAC Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week honors for Sept. 22, 2008. Kosgei finished first out of 120 runners at the Oneonta St. Airfield Invitational on Friday. Tropiano finished first at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, posting a time of 18:11 for the 5-kilometer race.

HADLEY, Mass. - Bates sophomore Devin Dilts (Roscoe, Ill.) was named NESCAC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Hamilton first year Emily Potter (Austin, Texas) earned NESCAC Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week honors for Sept. 15, 2008. In his first-ever 8-kilometer cross country race, Dilts, who transferred to Bates this fall, was the top finisher for the Bobcats at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, finishing fourth with a time of 27:20. Potter was the top finisher for the Continentals and placed third overall with a time of 20:04 at the Brockport St. Invitational on Saturday.

HADLEY, Mass. - Williams junior Edgar Kosgey (Reft Valley, Kenya) claimed NESCAC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week honors for Sept. 8, 2008, while Tufts sophomore Stephanie McNamara (North Attleborough, Mass.) was named NESCAC Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week. Kosgey finished first out of 178 runners at the Fordham Fiasco Invitational over the weekend with a time of 26:28 on the 8-kilometer course. McNamara won the Trinity Invitational by 21 seconds, posting a time of 16:31 on the hilly 4.25-kilometer course.
