CLINTON, N.Y. - The Hamilton College Department of Athletics celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day by hosting its second annual sports clinic on Sunday, Feb. 5.
More than 70 Central New York girls from kindergarten through eighth grade were taught skills and actively engaged in sport stations. The sport stations included basketball, field hockey, golf, ice hockey, soccer, softball, squash, tennis, track & field and volleyball. The girls ran relay races and played floor hockey and T-ball.
The stations were run by members of Hamilton women's intercollegiate varsity teams. All 14 of the College's women's varsity programs participated in the event. The student-athletes helped with registration, set-up and the warm-up. The event provided an opportunity for Hamilton student-athletes to get involved in the community, embrace physical activity and celebrate the importance of girls and women in sports.
Non-perishable food items were also collected at registration and nearly 200 cans will be donated to the Rescue Mission of Utica.
