HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College women's basketball team, under the guidance of Head Coach Emily Garner, hosted a "Toys for Tots" drive for its December 4th game at home against Connecticut College. The Bantams, who are 7-1 entering semester break after winning, encouraged friends and family to bring an unwrapped toy to the game. The event was widely attended and a great success.
"It's great to have the opportunity to give back, especially around the holidays, said Garner. "Service and leadership are integral parts of our team culture, and it was awesome to see the Trinity community rally around such a great cause. We feel very fortunate to have the ability to impact positive change in our community, and it's a good reminder that we are a part of something way bigger than ourselves."
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program aims to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
